American Jews: Super-important vote coming up

It is crucial, both for Israel and for the future of Jewish education in the USA, for each and every American Jew to register NOW to vote in the so-called World Zionist Congress.

This organization has tremendous political prestige and controls (directly and indirectly) very large Jewish education, aliya and settlement budgets (between $350,000 and $1 billion). Four years ago, the extreme left (Reform, Meretz, Peace Now) grabbed half of the votes simply because they registered people diligently. It is to be hoped that the hawks (right) will follow their good example this time.

In the previous elections, less than 15 percent of the United States' 6 million Jews voted. Conclusion: For some strange reason, nobody knows about this -- which is crazy, because every single vote counts. Please therefore:
* register and vote NOW (American Jews).
* Forward this message NOW to all relevant American Jewish friends and relatives! If they don't hear about this from you -- they're not going to hear about it at all.
* From now until 15 February -- remind several people EVERY DAY, to register for the vote. We have to really work on this daily, because most of your friends and relatives are going to need lots of reminders -- not only one.

The best slates for genuine pro-Zionist, anti-pacifist people to vote are one of the hawkish slates: Herut, Zionists of America, Religious Zionists or the only slightly hawkish (did NOT oppose Gush Katif scheme) Likud. To register for the vote, please urgently visit https://www.escvote.com/azm2005/default.asp?locid=azm (general registration website) or any one of the following sites (in order of size):

http://www.votetorah.org/ Religious Zionists OR
http://www.zoa.org/aboutzoa.htm ZOA (hawks) OR
Herut (hawks)
http://www.thelikud.org/likud/home.html (Likud, slightly hawkish but didn't oppose Gush Katif forceable deportation scheme)

Some of you may find that the above slates are less hawkish - less Land of Israel oriented -- than you would like to see. DON'T WORRY -- VOTE ANYWAY!! but leave your name, place of residence and email address with mattot.arim@gmail.com so that we can organize a significant grass-roots followup after the elections.

REMEMBER -- ANYTHING IS BETTER THAN NOT VOTING AT ALL. AND THE ABOVE SLATES ARE FAR, FAR, FAR BETTER THAN THE REFORM OR MERETZ ALTERNATIVES.

If someone who is Orthodox says "I'm not a Zionist" -- remind him that the people who edited Zion out of their prayerbooks and their hearts were always the Reform Jews -- never the Orthodox. Nonetheless, for political reasons, the Reform community is anxious for you to think that you shouldn't vote because you're "not a Zionist". Register to vote despite their sentiments.

Thank you for voting and for reminding at least 20 of your American Jewish friends to do the same. This shows that YOU do everything you can, for the Jewish people -- for the only Jewish state in the world -- and for the Land of Israel. Remember -- if your American Jewish friends don't hear about this from YOU -- they're not going to hear about it AT ALL. What a pity that would be!!

It is crucial only if the Jewish people are deemed a single historic unit.

They really are not.

The geographic-cultural division such as Ashkanazi and Sephardic is commonly used to camoflauge the original split such as Ashkanazi from western Europe and those from Poland and the Russias. This split existed until recently.

There is a new split.

Peace Now, ADL, ARZA, and others are alien to some Jews.

The "problem" must be addressed at the roots. The WZC has perhaps outlived its usefulness.
