The Half Full Glass...

The Half Full Glass...

Living in Israel, there seems to never be a dull moment. Whenever one turns on the news, which almost everyone in Israel does religiously, one is reminded of the challenges that are facing the Jewish People and the Jewish State.

That being said, one might expect that just about everyone in Israel would be suffering from depression. Yet, according to a recent study conducted by the Central Bureau of Statistics which, among other things, found the following:

* 82 percent of adult Israelis claimed to be 'very satisfied' with life in Israel. Of those surveyed, 52% believed that their lives would improve over the next few years.

* Among Israelis aged 20-24, an overwhelming 89% responded that they were satisfied with their lives.

* The rate of satisfaction sank slightly as the age of respondents rose: 79% of Israelis aged 45-64 and 72% of Israelis aged 75 and over were satisfied with their lives.

Don't get me wrong. There are plenty of challenges that we face here in Israel, but perhaps there's an inner comfort and resolve when you know you're home and that the challenges that the Jewish People face here in Israel are their own (a luxury that the Jewish People haven't been afforded throughout the vast majority of their history).
