Turkish-Iranian state sponsor of terrorism

Turkish-Iranian state sponsor of terrorism

KurdishMedia.com - By Hussein Ali
Operation Iraqi Freedom removed Saddam Hussein and his Ba’athist regime from power and liberated Iraq. Since then, however, Iraq has become a central battleground in the global war on terrorism. Former regime elements, who have been conducting insurgent attacks against Coalition forces, have increasingly allied themselves tactically and operationally with foreign fighters and Islamic extremists. Even though, the ousting of Saddam Hussein’s regime by Coalition forces removed a longstanding sponsor of terrorism in the Middle East region, but due to non-stop interference by the contiguous states, Iraq can not stay short of scrapes and chaos.

The three main countries that bear a very destructive purpose in the future of the shoddily-ruined nation represent: Iran, Turkey and Syria. MORE

The title alone told me author Hussein Ali's position.

It would be very difficult for the US State Department to list Turkey as anything since Turkey is a NATO member. There are tradeoffs. Some Istanbul policies must be accepted and absorbed by the US. One blunt reason to avoid confrontation with Turkey is its NATO role in placing a curb on the reunified Germany. Again, there are tradeoffs.

I'm confident that Israel's deterrence program is more advnced than "Turkey bears the most advanced and active biological weapons program.". Remember the Israelis who had to walk around carrying gas masks?! Circa 1985 an El Al B747 freighter crashed right after takeoff from Amsterdam Airport. The cargo related to Israel's defense program against biological or chemical attack.

Much of the world - but not all - agree that Iran cannot become a nuclear power.

This is no real challenge to Hussein Ali's material. It's just to say there are required tradeoffs.

It is hard to credit the charge against Turkey becuase we don't hear about attacks that Turkey is behind. Are they focussing all this alleged tgerrorism against the Kurds only? Or is the writer going back a hundred years to the Armenian genocide.

Shalom Ted,

I infered that Ali was saying any Turkish military action was a form of terrorism.

The western section of Armenia (from 1918-1920) was annexed by Turkey in 1920. I think the Kurds view this annexation as occuring within the realm of terrorism.
