For the Record: Georgetown informed of PSM advocacy of suicide bombings

This information is also being posted at Israpundit and elsewhere, and being circulated to Georgetown alumni as well. I am confident that GU will not knowingly and willfully allow an organization that is on record as advocating terroristic violence, and whose affiliate, Al-Awda, apparently solicited a "martyr" to bomb Ariel Sharon's hospital room-- a felony if proven-- to use its facilities.

In addition (attention Risk Management dept.), what is Georgetown's policy on allowing totally-unknown persons to share dormitory rooms with GU students? As shown here, the Palestine Solidarity Movement is arranging "free housing" for people who attend its conference. The only information a registrant needs to provide is a name and an E-mail address. I suppose they are free to do whatever they like off campus but I thought you should know about this.

(1) ISM/PSM Founder Adam Shapiro openly supports suicide bombings
(Shapiro may be a speaker at this conference. What is GU's policy on advocacy of terroristic violence on its campus?)

"Nevertheless, he justifies the Palestinian armed resistance against Israel as long as it is targeting Israeli soldiers and Jewish settlers in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Otherwise, he is not in favor of suicide bombings." (Note, however, that settlers are civilians!)

http://palestinechronicle.com/article.php?story=20020129050221695
"In actuality, nonviolence is not enough. Rather, what is needed is nonviolent direct action against the occupation."

"The Palestinian resistance must take on a variety of characteristics-- both nonviolent and violent. But most importantly it must develop a strategy involving both aspects. No other successful nonviolent movement was able to achieve what it did without a concurrent violent movement ? in India militants attacked British outposts and interests while Gandhi conducted his campaign, while the Black Panther Movement and its earlier incarnations existed side-by-side with the Civil Rights Movement in the United States."

(2) http://www.discoverthenetwork.org/individualProfile.asp?indid=944
Charlotte Kates a leader of the Palestine Solidarity Movement (note "PALESTINE SOLIDARITY MOVEMENT" as opposed to International Solidarity Movement, even though the two organizations are the same thing) has said that Israeli CHILDREN are "legitimate" targets for Palestinian suicide bombers.

(3) An Al-Awda member (Al-Awda is an affiliate of ISM/PSM) recently
solicited a "martyr" to bomb Ariel Sharon's hospital room. Here is a
portion of the E-mail in question. More-extensive details that can allow the message to be traced to its sender have already been sent to the appropriate law enforcement agencies in the United States and abroad.

Open letter to
the next
Suicide-Bomber

Dear Abou el Fidda' ,

If you are next Martyr on the waiting list
get started and pack your heavy-stuff ,
kiss the hand of your mother
kiss goodbye you bothers and sisters
kiss the hand of your father
put on that heavy-jacket.......

[Directions to Hadassah Hospital are given]

Show you Fake-Press-Card to the Security
and speak with an American-accent
walk slowly and do not attract attention......

[Directions to Ariel Sharon's hospital room were given to facilitate the suicide bombing. This shows that someone has actually done reconnaissance for a suicide bombing mission]

you will see a large "VIP-Waiting-Hall"
with the many Dignitaries from many countries
including ,unfortunatly, some Arab-countries......
who came to pay their respect to their dying-Hero.

Show again your fake-Press-Card and start
interviewing those "well-wishers".........
and ask them what made this man a Hero ??
and how come he became a "Man of Peace"

Then , order for yourself a cup of coffee,
sit down , rest and think for a while.......

If by then ,
you are still not convinced by the arguments you have heard
from those well wishers.....
then release that detonator !!

This man under intensive care will anyhow die,
with or without your suicide , my brother ,
your real enemies are
those who have called him a "Hero"
and could not convince you why.
( nor me)

More on Al-Awda

Al-Awda - Right of Return Coalition , an international grassroots organization, argues that Palestinian refugees have the right to return “to their original homes and villages” which existed prior to the founding of Israel, and that they should be paid restitution for their losses. Al-Awda supports the intifada and the establishment of a Palestinian state over all the territory west of the Jordan River, including Israel. Al-Awda has organized large protests with the International Action Center and its anti-war affiliate, ANSWER. It has also been active in several anti-Israel boycott campaigns. Al-Awda considers its advocacy on behalf of Palestinians as being at the center of a global struggle against Zionism and American foreign policy. Mazin Qumsiyeh, a Yale University professor and an Al-Awda founder and leader, has called for supporting the “Iraqi resistance” against the pro-Israel “cabal” in Washington: “Only by awakening the US public and linking it to resistance movements from within the world community (including the Iraqi resistance), will this pathway to destruction be avoided.”

http://www.adl.org/main_Israel/wheels_of_justice.htm
"Funded primarily by donations and merchandise sales, the tour is sponsored by the International Solidarity Movement, Al-Awda, Voices in the Wilderness and the Middle East Children's Alliance. "

I wonder if Al-Awda, Voices in the Wilderness, and MECA-- all of which have been reported to the IRS for apparent improprieties with tax-exempt funds-- will remember to report this use of their tax-exempt funds to the IRS. In any event, Wheels of Justice shows a tie-in between Al-Awda, whose member apparently solicited a "martyr" to bomb a hospital, and the ISM.

============================================
As shown here, there is plenty of evidence that ISM and PSM are the same organization:

http://www.commondreams.org/cgi-bin/print.cgi?file=/headlines02/0519-02.htm
(Common Dreams is a "progressive" source)

"In the United States, the homegrown Palestinian solidarity movement has
had limited political effect so far, acknowledged Adam Shapiro, a
movement leader who joined Schurr at the news conference Saturday." But
Adam Shapiro is the ISM's leader, isn't he?

And this one is even better: (ISM's Web site)
Support groups include
Florida Palestine Solidarity Network
New Orleans Palestine Solidarity
Palestine Soldarity Committee/ISM-Seattle

http://www.palestineinformation.org/ism_seattle.htm
"Seattle Palestine Solidarity Committee is the local representative of
the International Solidarity Movement to End the Occupation (ISM), a
Palestinian-led movement which asks internationals to come to the
Occupied Territories and join in nonviolent resistance to the military
occupation."
