Hamas says it has won parliamentary majority

Reuters

GAZA, Jan 26 (Reuters) - A Hamas leader said on Thursday an initial count of votes showed the militant Islamist group had won a majority of seats in the Palestinian parliament, putting it in a position to shape a new government.

"Hamas has won more than 70 seats in Gaza and the West Bank, which gives it more than 50 percent of the vote", Ismail Haniyeh, who headed Hamas's list in Wednesday's elections, told Reuters. He did not say how many votes had been counted. MORE

Hamas HAS won!

On BBC TV news just now, Jack Straw the Foreign Secretary urged Hamas to call a halt to it's violent activities, which aren't compatible with the democracy of the election they'd just won.

Considering Hamas has already declared and all-out war on Israel and the fact it doesn't recognise any of the previous "peace" agreements - there's no point in the US or EU pushing Israel to concede more land to the terrorists who have stated they want ALL of Israel.

Israel will still be pushed to make peace with those who want her destruction, because, as a friend has commented:

Killing Arabs is a war crime while killing Jews is fighting the occupation.
Only one is acceptable under international law.

But Jack Straw has spoken! Surely Hamas will obey him.

Won't it?

I am very pleased at the Hamas win. It is time for the pretence of peace to stop and the world to be judged by the sides it takes. (Notice Harper said he would not deal with Hamas.)

In a way I am pleased that Hamas won since now the Palestinians are exposed to the whole World for the psychos that they are, and the Israeli's can vote with open eyes about the real choices that face them in the forthcoming elections in March and recognise the serious risks involved should they make more concessions to those who would wish to incinerate them.
