Indyk the smug
His success at peace processing was so apparent, he's now considered an expert.
Now that he no longer is responsible for any part of American policy in the Middle East, Martin Indyk is now sought as an "expert" on the region.
The NY Times was more than willing to give him a podium yesterday:
"You've got to hedge against the risk that elections are going to lead to precisely this result," said Mr. Indyk, the former Middle East negotiator. "The hedge is to build civil society and democratic institutions first. But this administration doesn't listen to that."
Dr. Indyk, through two administrations, especially the Clinton administration, you were one of the principals behind each administration's Middle East policy. When did you, ever, bring pressure to bear on Yasser Arafat to halt the corruption and terror? I'm waiting.

Well whatever fault Indyk should take for the failure of past Mideast policies, it doesn't negate what he is saying about the current palestinian election. He happens to be correct about that. If it was said by someone more palatable to you, I'm sure you would be praising the remarks. Or perhaps you simply reject any criticism of the current administration.
