While there are a number of ethnicities in Iran, the major issue is Sunni/Shia'a.

I have no doubt of that. There is a very well educated class in Iran that are very westernized. They aren't in favor of the US in Iraq and other places, but, they are ALSO not in favor of the Mullahs and the Islamofascist crazies. I also believe they are the majority, at least by a small amount.

Unfortunately they do not have the power. Ahmadinejad and the mullahs have the military and a militia comparable to the Black Shirts in their extreme attitudes. These are the people Ahmadinejad is playing to, NOT the majority who could not in the past and can't now defend themselves or fight for their rights. The last president of Iran was exemplary of those people. We just saw what having the military and gubmint in your pocket can do. They change the rules and elected the person they wanted, Ahmadinejad. (remind anyone of Chavez??)

Makes it really hard for the lefties in the US. On the one hand they have Hitlers clone threatening to build nuclear weapons. On the other hand they have a majority of people in the country they could love to be friends with.

The thing to remember again is that the Hitler clone has the POWER!! None of those really nice moderate Iranians can do a thing about him and his military arm or the Mullahs. Every time they try to protest or try to make their voices heard they get literally stomped and the ringleaders are disappeared. So much for peaceful regime change. It will be a matter of time just like with Sodam Insane.

The only organisation that has any kind of threat to the status quo in Iran has been declared a terrorist organisation by the US. The People's Mujahedeen were rounded up and disarmed in Iraq. It would be very interesting if they are used as part of the assault on Iranian Nuclear sites.
