Priorities

Priorities

by Ted Belman

At the Herzliya Conference Bibi articulated Likud's Platform; security, economic growth and Jewish education. Only these three things will ensure peace.

On the other hand, Labour, and Kadima to a lesser extend, seek peace as a means to security and economic growth. No mention is made of Jewish identity and education. Both accept the '67 borders with minor adjustments.

On the other hand Bibi insists on defensible borders including the original planned location of the fence and staying on the Jordan Rift.

I'm with Bibi.

Bibi's plan is the only sound rational plan for a safe and secure Israel.

The Defensible Borders is an initiative of Dr. Dore Gold a long time Bibi confidante. I would suspect that, at some point, it was the view of PM Sharon also. Why, then, did he change?

The entire adult sane moral world is with Bibi. Unfortunately that seems to be now just a harrassed and beaten down minority. Israel is now RIGHT where the Brits were before Hitler invaded Poland. Chamberlainites. When the bombs come they will run to Bibi and when the bombs stop they will throw him out. Only this time there won't be an after.

Although BiBi always seems to get it, and his proclomations are a model of eloquence and clarity he ends up doing something stupid to turn Israel off to him.

Jay Shapiro on his weekly program on Arutz Sheva (Jan 18, 2006) brought up a cogent point. Whenever Israel's political leaders bring up the reason for retaining any territory, they always base it on security reasons, while the Arabs claim that the land belongs to them by their just right. In any argument between claims of justice and claims of security, the claims of justice will eventually win.

So I wouldn't be any more sanguine regarding the stance of Bibi, even he concedes the justice of the Palestinian cause.

Mush, please provide us with the factual data the shows that "othe non-Zionist educational systems" (i.e., Haredi learning instititions) had their coffers filled. This is a bald-faced lie.

Go back to Shinui, where you belong.

Oh. Shinui is in tatters. Tough luck, kiddo.
