I think it would be an invaluable advantage for Israel to have the Hamas officially run the PA (or whatever it will be named after the "election"). To have a pure, declared and comprehensible enemy that does not lie incessantly about itself, its policy, aims and methods, must necessarily be far better than the present Landmines of the Roadmap and Friends of Condi. Agree with Per. Enough of the Arafat in a suit charade. Sharon and Bush need Fatah so they can pretend there is a peace process. If there is war with the elected leaders of Palestine then Bush and Sharon can no longer pretend that the Palestinians want peace. Posted by: J. Lichty on January 4, 2006 12:52 PM
It is pretty sorry that the West can't be bothered to read the translations from MEMRI and other sources to know what the animals are trying to do. Since they won't, MAYBE Hamas' clearly spoken goals would wake up a few more westerners as to what Israel is trying to deal with on the terms that distant, safe, unknowledgeable, MORONS dictate. Shin Bet: Israel will be in 'deep trouble' if Hamas wins poll
Why, you ask?
Well, if this is what is keeping the Shin Bet Director awake at night, he can go back to sleep, and here's why...
There is absolutely no difference between Hamas and the "Palestinian Authority"!
Let's take a closer look at the two concerns that Diskin mentioned:
1) A Hamas victory would ensure that "there would be no efforts made to head off terrorism..."
The "Palestinian Authority's" current version of fighting terror involves:
* recruting "armed militants" into the existing "Palestinian" security forces
* Hiding wanted terrorists
* A refusal to confront terrorists, instead, calling for truces and ceasefires
How could Hamas be any worse?
2) "A Hamas triumph could also affect the educational curriculum taught in Palestinian schools"
Let's take a look at the current curriculum in the "Palestinian Authority" run schools...
* An analysis of "Palestinian Authority" school books by the Center for Monitoring the Impact of Peace (CMIP) found:
* Additional examples of the hatred and incitement taught in "Palestinian Authority" run schools can be found here and here.
* The "Palestinian Authority" omits any reference to the State of Israel on its official maps.
The moral of the story is, if Shin Bet Director Yuval Diskin believes that Israel will only be in "deep trouble" if Hamas wins in the upcoming "Palestinian" "elections", then he should begin looking for a new job in a different line of work.
WAKE UP!
