Stoning the devil means that the devil is necessarily outside of oneself. A stupid devil, as it were, who you could destroy with a couple stones? A wise man would rather look for the devil in him. He would fight that devil the best he could, and possibly God would help him, then, giving the final push. Islam has it just all wrong.
