The Absurd Amount of Aid Given to the Palestinians and the World Bank's PrioritiesTrackback PingsTrackBack URL for this entry: Comments
So, has anyone anywhere claimed ANYTHING positive from all the money that has been poured down that particular black hole??? Posted by: kuhnkat on January 13, 2006 10:30 PM
Israel is the largest recipient of US foreign aid, it has been getting $3 billion a year for years. Since 1973, Israel has cost the United States about $1.6 trillion. Don't complain about others when you have your hand out Posted by: Chris on January 14, 2006 08:04 AM
What is driving the flow of monies to Palestinian coffers is that every nation on the Israeli - Palestinian Peace peace process bandwagon wants to appear to be doing their part to support the Palestinians who are seen as too poor to fend for themselves. There are those who would say, with good reason that what Palestinians lack goes way beyond money, but that is a whole other topic. But for the vast amount of foreign aid monies Arafat stole and which cannot yet be found, the huge amount of monies Palestinians converted and still convert from noble to terrorist purposes and the money Palestinians squandered on anything but the purpose of nation building, Palestinians would have had more than enough monies and would be well on their way to preparing to become an independent state. Instead, Arafat and Abbas who continues Arafat's policies of fiscal mismanagement and irresponsibility have assured the stability of the Palestinian state of corruption. Palestinians have every reason to believe the world will continue to support them in their mad dash from accountability. It is not love of Palestinians, nor necessarily hatred of Israel that nations continue to give monies to Palestinians without any strings attached, knowing that many of their donated dollars get diverted into the hands of Palestinian terrorists and innocent Israelis get murdered and maimed in the result. These Palestinian funding nations are seeking good relations with the OPEC nations to assure the stability of the world oil economy, seeking greater inroads in the Arab world in other economic spheres and probably also want to look good in the eyes of Islamic radicals, wishfully thinking that will keep those radicals from paying them an unwelcome visit. The other reason therefor for so many nations to throw money at the Palestinians is that it is just good for business nationally and internationally to be seen donating to the Muslim world's favorite charity. Chris: Not that you care about reasoned disputation, but the US is treaty-bound to provide that aid in exchange for Israel consenting to give up land and security in exchange for what the US perceived as geo-political harmony. Specifically, the US said that if Israel would give up the military security and financial independence guaranteed by the Sinai Peninsula, then it - the United States - would step in to provide military and financial resources instead. Israel isn't getting handouts - they're getting promised payments. The Palestinians, on the other hand, receive their aid because of a weird combination of international sympathy, Arab demographic dominance in the UN, and a desire in some quarters to undercut Israel. These motives - think of them what you will - are at the very least a touch less noble than the source of the US-Israeli relationship. Posted by: Omri Ceren on January 14, 2006 02:00 PM
Chris, Israel doesn't use the money to keep 2 MILLION people in poverty and propagandise them to hate and kill another race. Israel also does some really cool technology with the US that I for one appreciate. Israel also keeps open to Christians access to historic and Holy sites which are being destroyed under the PA. Israel has also been a US catspaw against various threats in the ME to our oil supply. They provide intelligence information we could not get anywhere else for any amount of money. I would say our investment in Israel has been a better one than virtually ANY other foreign aid program. So, could you maybe answer the question I asked above?? What are we getting for all the money we have thrown down the so-called Palestinian black hole??? Other than more aggression against a very good ally??? An extremely good analysis of the motives behind the donor countries by Bill Narvey above. The EU,USA & Japan have been grossly irresponsible by pumping obscene amounts of their tax-payers money to such an unworthy cause ignoring the genuine needy people of the World such as the Aids orphans of Africa etc.About 2 millions Palestinians who choose terror instead of enterprise receive more per capita in aid than any other deserving group. The G7 & EU countries do this in order to humour & appease the Muslim & Arab World particularly the oil producing countries who give absolutely nothing. Chris Pattern & Toni Blair of the UK who have spear headed these donations have resisted any form of accountability on the part of Arafat & the PA and blocked a petition from a Euro-MP that questioned it. Donating it through the EU or G7 also helps shield individual governments from any form of accountability to their individual electorates since they can hide behind the collective decision of the group. The Absurd Amount of Aid Given to the Palestinians and the World Bank's Priorities
This is just so nice of them:
Because obviously, the worst that could happen is for the PA's absolute misuse of international aid to cause them bankruptcy. That's apparently worse than the fact that a lot of that misuse ends up financing missiles shot into Israeli homes and suicide bomber belts exploded in Israeli cafes. And then there's this:The international community's aid to the Palestinians is totally disproportionate to either what they require or what they, according to all the standards used to decide these things, deserve - so we have to wonder, is there something else driving the constant flow of money into the Palestinian Authority, so much of which ends up in the hands of terrorists dedicated to the destruction of Israel?
