The expulsion, which is now unhindered by a failed court campaign and fueled by a successful media feeding frenzy to isolate the residents, is scheduled to begin by the 29th (6 days away) and be completed by the 31st.
My intention is to re-enter the closed military zone that will certainly be re-established several days prior to expulsion, and risk arrest or worse for the sake of: (1) standing with the community; and (2) filming and transmitting this most horrid of events to my rapidly-expanding audience. At best, CNN, the BBC and other world news outlets are giving you a biased twist of events. At worst they're intentionally avoiding reporting the ugliness, illegality, and cruel actions performed by the expulsion forces. Where can you go for inside info? Where can you get a resident's eye view?
The reason for this pre-update email is simple: I am not able to continue without minimal and immediate financial support from my readership base. After my 4 months in Gush Katif and given the evolution of circumstances since that time resulting in the ascent of Olmert to the PM chair and in turn, given rise to series of announced expulsions and destructions throughout Israel (6 in government's target right now), I have decided to forego my historical investment banking career and commit to rebuild israelreporter.com in a very significantly-expanded and comprehensive sense, utilizing new technologies in flash video and virtual newsroom, to deliver a remarkable site to deliver the correct media message for a strong and proud Israel. The site rebuild is about 50% completed, and now on hold due to financial limitations. Virtually 90% of costs of site build are one-time, and I will personally spend majority of my time running and updating site, which will be unlike any site previously constructed for news and video transmission from Israel.
I am facing numerous, one-time costs to accomplish this task, in addition to smaller yet ongoing costs to deliver the videos from Chevron. I have exhausted my ability to undergo personal debt, which was already stretched from the time in Gush Katif, and the various activities undertaken in that holy effort. As you may have noticed, the current site contains zero advertising (except 2 links in exchange for hosting). Understand that this entire message and appeal is quite uncomfortable to me, however, the thought of Jews being expelled from their homes and communities destroyed (Gush Katif style), is even more distressing.
So, I have decided to put the future of this effort in the hands of my not massive, but motivated readership. This is no different than the current battle, we all have a stake in this, and we all must contribute. I am willing to stand in Chevron (and other places) exposed to legal and physical attack, and with my entire life efforts and dreams in suspense. But, I am unable to do this without a modicum of incoming financial support, and right away.
