ISM Abulbul Amir: Humor

ISM Abulbul Amir: Humor

by Bill Levinson

I must begin by giving credit to Ehud A., a blogger at Cal Tzedek, Progressive Jewish Students of U.C. Berkeley. ("Progressive" and "Berkeley" should tell everyone where he is coming from.) It seems that he took exception to an anonymous IsraPundit comment by one Abu Abubu, whose name was inspired by the folk tale of Abdul Abulbul Amir. In the following composition, the International Solidarity Movement and its leaders will stand in for the Turkish (or Mameluke) character in the story and we will have endless fun with them.

In the original folk tale, Abdul Abulbul Amir, one of the Sultan's most valiant soldiers, has a run-in with Ivan Petrofsky Scavar (or Skavinsky Scavar) that ends with a duel in which both are killed. A highly off-color variant of the poem has the two men compete to see which can shag more women, with Abdul going AC/DC at the end and giving it to Ivan. Anyway, here is what I have come up with so far for the International Solidarity Movement:

The sons of the "beeches" are liars and cowards
And quite accustomed to fear
But the slimiest of them on the PSM team
Is Fayyad Sbaihat Amir

If they wanted a boy to do doubletalk
Or harass the foe on the Net [1]
Get kicked left and right and then run from the fight
They'd call Nadeem Muaddi Amir

Yet even Muaddi could not compare
In treachery, lying, and fraud
To that unshaven pig for his breeches too big
Called Adam Shapiro Amir

Shapiro for violence in Israel does call
Like his woman Huwaida Arraf [2]
Yet the ISM will frown for it's soon going down
With Fadi Kiblawi Amir.

Now the heroes are plenty and well known to fame
In the legions that fight for the Right
StopTheISM and IsraPundit that know how to hit
At ISM Abulbul Amir

There's Omdurman too that tells all the truth
Of Rachel Corrie's tragic death
For whom justice is done when the battle is won
Against ISM Abulbul Amir

Jewish Action Task Force provided the facts
United American Committee carried the ball
The Protest Warrior made ISM sorrier
As did DAFKA Skavinsky Skavar

One day these bold heroes, they shouldered their facts
And donned their most truculent sneers,
On the Internet they did go where they trod on the toe
Of ISM Abulbul Amir.

Filthy kafirs, quoth ISM, is existence so dull
That you wish to end your careers?
Vile infidels know, you have trod on the toe
Of ISM Abulbul Amir.

Then the ISM its voice it did raise,
And called out, "Allah Akbar!"
And with taqqiyan [3] intent it ferociously went
For Kafir Skavinsky Skavar

Yet the scimitar of lies could not prevail
Against the bright shining steel of Truth
ISM's lies were exposed and it soon was deposed
Down went ISM Abulbul Amir

Around ISM's neck Rachel Corrie was hung
Like a huge albatross
The girl's life was lost as a necessary cost,
Said George Rishwami Amir [4]

So also spake Joe Smith who watched Rachel die [5]
ISM gladly gave up her life
Propaganda to make and pictures to fake
Said Joe Smith Abulbul Amir

Charlotte Kates says she's for peace
But her own words give her the lie [6]
"Terrorism is right in a necessary fight"
Agrees Adam Shapiro Amir

While high on Vicodin another did write
How one wanted to strap on a bomb
"In my ode I said I'd like to explode"
Quoth Fadi Kiblawi Amir [7]

More scandals broke as the battle raged on
All of them soon came to light
MECA and Brecht, they were both tax-exempt
Funding ISM Abulbul Amir

"You can't break the law and be tax exempt"
The Internal Revenue rules say
For civil disobedience by Bray MAS soon will pay
With Tikkun Abulbul Amir

Soon all ISM was running away
With its tail between its legs
We dealt them a clout and all joined the rout
Of ISM Abulbul Amir

The ISM ran and it tried to hide
But its tricks did nothing avail
It howled like a dog and squealed like a hog
All of ISM Abulbul Amir

So as history's ash heap you now survey
Be sure to take a good look
At the broken pieces and large pile of feces
That were once ISM Abulbul Amir

More stanzas are certainly welcome!

[1] It has been proven that Muaddi signed up a political opponent for unwanted electronic newsletters.

"In actuality, nonviolence is not enough. Rather, what is needed is nonviolent direct action against the occupation." "The Palestinian resistance must take on a variety of characteristics— both nonviolent and violent. But most importantly it must develop a strategy involving both aspects. No other successful nonviolent movement was able to achieve what it did without a concurrent violent movement. In India militants attacked British outposts and interests while Gandhi conducted his campaign, while the Black Panther Movement and its earlier incarnations existed side-by-side with the Civil Rights Movement in the United States."

"Nevertheless, he [Shapiro] justifies the Palestinian armed resistance against Israel as long as it is targeting Israeli soldiers and Jewish settlers in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Otherwise, he is not in favor of suicide bombings." Settlers are civilians so he is advocating the suicide bombing of civilians. Furthermore, even soldiers are legitimate targets only for other soldiers and partisans who carry their weapons openly and wear uniforms or badges "distinguishable at a distance."

[3] Taqqiya = Arab lying, dissembling, and doubletalk

[4] http://www.standwithus.com/news_post.asp?NPI=85 "Recently, the Director of the Solidarity Movement, George Rishmawi, explained to the San Francisco Chronicle that the recruitment of American student volunteers is useful to the Palestinian Movement because "if some of these foreign volunteers get shot or even killed, then the international media will sit up and take notice.""

[5] Joseph Smith, who was present when Corrie died and whose highest priority was apparently to take pictures, said "The spirit that she died for is worth a life. This idea of resistance, this spirit of resisting this brutal occupying force, is worth anything. And many, many, many Palestinians give their lives for it all the time. So the life of one international, I feel, is more than worth the spirit of resisting oppression." (http://www.freepalestinecampaign.org/Stranger article.htm, a source friendly to the Palestine Solidarity Movement,)

[6] http://www.thejewishpress.com/news_article.asp?article=2709
"Charlotte Kates, the organizer of the New Jersey Solidarity Movement— an offshoot of the International Solidarity Movement— has refused to condemn homicide bombings and other means of 'armed resistance.'"
http://www.discoverthenetwork.org/individualProfile.asp?indid=944
Charlotte Kates has said that Israeli CHILDREN are "legitimate" targets for Palestinian suicide bombers.

http://home.comcast.net/~jat.action/ISM_info.htm "ISM organizers, however, occasionally forget to speak in code and actually say precisely what they mean. Charlotte Kates, leader of the New Jersey chapter of the ISM and organizer of the ISM's third National Convention, scheduled to take place on the Rutgers campus from October 10-12, explained that the ISM supports suicide bombing. "We support Palestinians' right to resist occupation and oppression, and do not feel that it is our place as a solidarity movement to dictate tactics of resistance to the Palestinian people. Why is there something particularly horrible about 'suicide bombing' - except for the extreme dedication conveyed in the resistance fighter's willingness to use his or her own body to fight?" (2003 by MidEastWeb and Ami Isseroff)

The Georgetown Hoya (January 27 2006) reports this: "But Muaddi declined to condemn suicide bombings, saying that it would not be right 'to criticize Palestinians for taking part in violence when the Israeli forces are taking part in violence.'"

[7] "Fadi Kiblawi is far from being an outspoken critic of terrorism. While an undergrad at U. Mich., he sponsored the national convention of the Palestine Solidarity Movement, a group that is on record endorsing terror bombing as a legitimate tool of Palestinian "resistance." Furthermore, Mr. Kiblawi actually wrote an article in a U. Michigan student publication in which he expressed his desire "to strap a bomb to one's chest and kill. …The enemy is not just overseas, the enemy is also amongst us."
A Google search for "strap a bomb to one's chest and kill" should allow independent verification of this information. See also http://www.dafka.org/NewsGen.asp?S=4&PageID=945

Hmmm, my software does have animation capability. Once this vision statement becomes reality, I can make figures that symbolize pro-Civilization organizations and Web sites dancing on the ISM's political grave.

Or even funnier - make a music video to some cheap 80's pop group with ISM-ers dancing like the losers they are!

To piss you off even further...

Ghassan Andoni, a co-founder of the ISM, has just been nominated for a NOBEL PEACE PRIZE by one of the world's largest civil organizations! How's THAT for a slap in the face?

Face it Bill... the whole world can't be wrong. Just you and Lee are!

Now that's "pretty funny"

Hey, someone could nominate Osama bin Laden for a Nobel Peace Prize if they wanted to, and they actually gave one to another terrorist, Yasser Arafat. So what?

Sorry buddy, when Arafat died he wasn't on the terror list...

Take THAT!

You're right, he wasn't on the terror list, he just murdered people.

The point is - someone isn't a terrorist just because Bill Levinson and Lee Kaplan say he is. But then again, you don't care. After all - judging by your posts on Israpundit and articles in FPM, it's obvious that you make up your truths.

I am sure this terrorist is a hero to the entire Palestine Solidarity Movement. In fact, http://viva.palestyna.pl/ism/index.php?ID=news&news=ISMnews/092003/12.php has a picture of Arafat on a Polish International Solidarity Movement page. In fact, it turns out to be Latif Dori and Uri Avnery with Arafat (http://zioneocon.blogspot.com/archives/2003_09_14_zioneocon_archive.html).
