Israpundit propagates truth not hate.

To The Editor, The Toronto Star
Antonia Zerbisias claims that Israpundit, of which I am the Editor, leads the “Cartoon Crusade” because it is motivated by hate. This derives from her belief that Israpundit, or its contributing authors, “hate Muslims”.
With all due respect we hate what some Muslims do, including suicide bombings, brutal beheadings, incitement of hatred, unbridled propagation of anti-Semitism, honour killings, discrimination against gays Christians and Jews and female genital mutilations to name just a few. I am sure that many Muslims also hate these acts. Yet these acts are done according to Sharia and supported by the Islamic states and Imams to varying degrees. Furthermore these acts are done in the name of Mohammed or in praise of Allah.
Islam embodies three odious concepts “Jihad” (The purpose of jihad, in other words, is not directly to spread the Islamic faith but to extend sovereign Muslim power (faith, of course, often follows the flag). Jihad is thus unabashedly offensive in nature, with the eventual goal of achieving Muslim dominion over the entire globe. “ Daniel Pipes), “dhimmitude” (Dhimmitude: the Islamic system of governing populations conquered by jihad wars, encompassing all of the demographic, ethnic, and religious aspects of the political system. The word "dhimmitude" as a historical concept, was coined by Bat Ye’or in 1983 to describe the legal and social conditions of Jews and Christians subjected to Islamic rule) and “jizya” (The poll-tax or rather "protection money" that has to be paid by the Dhimmis under Islamic rule.). Israpundit rejects each and every one of these concepts as does all of western civilization.
The Arabs have attempted to destroy Israel ever since its creation and continually attack it. (The conflict is not over Israel’s borders but over Israel’s existence.) To achieve this end they have vilified and demonized Israel. No lie is too big for them to invent. No atrocity is too horrendous to commit. The election of Hamas is ample proof of this.
Israpundit simply points out these truths. To be forewarned is to be forearmed. We would like nothing better for all the carnage, caused by Muslims, to end including the cartoon carnage done by “out-of-control Muslim mobs”. In fact these Muslim mobs are in the control of Islamists and doing their bidding on cue as the present evidence proves.
But beyond that, Israpundit is motivated by its desire to preserve the West from the danger Islam represents to it. This danger is not just a military one but one of dhimmitude (i.e. subservience) out of fear. We are not looking for, or in need of, “another reason to bash Muslims and sow further divisions between what are already "clashing civilizations." as she alleges. We fear the West is being cowered into submission and we want to sound the clarion call.
To her credit, she writes, “I would hate to think that newspapers are backing away to avoid angry protests, to prevent ad boycotts, out of political correctness or a sense that some communities should get special treatment or, most of all, because they fear violent reprisals.” We agree.
But there is another issue that we champion beyond that of free speech, namely the right to live by our own values and not be dictated to by Islamists. In response to the joint statement of conciliation by the US and the EU, "Nasrallah (Hezbollah leader) said there would be no compromise before Denmark apologizes and the European Parliament and individual assemblies in Europe pass laws that prohibit insulting the Prophet." This is outrageous. It is an attempt to force Sharia and Dhimmitude on the west and should be totally resisted.
To mount a proper defence the West must be free to criticize Islam and its values and practices that we find abhorrent. We cannot allow ourselves to be silenced by charges of racism or hate or by the dictates of politically correct speech. We all have a duty to speak out. If we don’t, how can we expect moderate Muslims to stand up to them.
Ms Zerbisias then makes a totally unsubstantiated guess, “As for violence, I would guess that Muslims are more victims than perpetrators.” If she has to guess she shouldn’t say anything. The facts, which she ignores, speak otherwise.
Finally she gives the Arabs or Muslims a pass because they don’t have modern communications and are “easily subject to the machinations of ignorant clerics”. She goes on to suggest that either we are ‘the real hate mongers” or “that[we]should know better”. In fact, as a result modern communications, we do know better and therefore work to spread the truth and warn of the dangers.
Contrary to her assertion, there is every "need to publish offensive cartoons".

Ted,
Well stated. The mainstream media continues to dig their hole deeper.
First, they censor the cartoons. What reader/viewer can trust mainstream media knowing that MSM is withholding relevant information? The mainstream newspapers are losing subscribers and this current cartoon censorship/dhimmitude by them just adds to the reasons people no longer buy their newspapers or watch CBS, NBC, or ABC news anchors.
Second, they attack the competitors who are showing the cartoons and discussing the issue fully. When a corporation is failing, the leadership blames everyone else, but themselves for their failures. MSM is entering moral bankruptcy over the cartoons.
The MSM bankruptcy is good news for the bloggers. Now is the time for the bloggers to take even a higher road of being the source of news that is fit to print.
GO BLOGGERS!!!!!!!!!

Antonia Zerbisias is obviously a bleeding heart with a shortage of brains. She can only find "justice" in groups that claim to be victims of oppresion without getting her facts straight. Consequently she falls for the ISM garbage, the poor Palestinians, etc etc. Muslims are persecuted, yatta yatta...Of course it doesn't stop her from being a darling of David Irving, the Holocaust denier either.
Antonia cries crocodile tears for Rachel Corrie as some make fun of her. But Antonia never discusses the Rachels killed by suicide bombings and terrorist attacks inside Israel. She is a lover of mankind but will not condemn murderers preferring to see them as "victims" of an unjust society.
Antonia doesn't hate anyone, she only lends support and credibility to the propaganda put forth by the haters. Israpundit is certainly not anti-Muslim, but it is anti-Islamofascism, a term Antonia no doubt understands liking things to be simple.

"Racism" is the Left's standard reply to any criticism of barbaric BEHAVIOR by the Third World, Arabs, and so on. Most people get Venn diagrams in junior high school so this should set Antonia Zerbisias straight, assuming that she completed junior high school.

Good diagrams.
It is a pillar within the Left's temple of thought that religion is a curse upon mankind. EXCEPT Islam which they now pimp for daily.
As to the sentiment expressed about bloggers: Unfortunately blogdom is becoming more and more monocromatic and even insular. I've seen one or two significant articls on Amona in the american blogosphere. Debbie Schlussel is the only one I can think of. The blogoshpere is becoming one big circle jerk playing with themselves and on very few issues.

Hi Ted - just thought I'd share my own Antonia Zerbisias story with you.
A few years ago when Neil Macdonald was still reporting for the CBC from the Middle East, a story went around the net that he had tried to organize a boycott of Ariel Sharon's annual cocktail party for the foreign press. It looked quite genuine - quotes from the letter he circulated, time and place etc.
Zerbisias wrote a story basically pooh-poohing this. If one did not read it closely, one would be left with the impression that it was all just a smear campaign against Macdonald by Israel's cheerleaders. So I went back and read her story very closely and realized that while she had crafted it in such a way as to suggest Macdonald was innocent, she never actually came right out and said so.
So I e-mailed her and asked her point-blank if he did or did try to organize a boycott of Sharon's party. She replied moaning about how reporting on the Middle East is always such a mine field. I e-mailed her again, agreeing that it was a mine field but gently reminding her that she had not answered my question. She responded in much the same way. In short, Ted, it took three exchanges before she admitted to me that the story was in fact true, that Macdonald had indeed tried to organize a (unsuccessful) boycott of the party.
She is very sleazy and clearly not above playing hard and fast with the truth if it suits her purposes. Apparently (by her own admission) Macdonald and his wife are friends of hers.

I am starting to believe that Lefties don't have a conscience - just a mandate! A couple of months ago I attended a conference at the ANU on pain and death where a woman from the Canberra Palestinian Costume Museum gave a speech. It was so jam-packed full of lies and propaganda that I could not cover the extent herein. Suffice to say that it was an unacademic one-sided attack on Israel and if the audience did not know any better they would of course tend to believe the bulls--t. So I challenged her on a couple of points: firstly her claim that Israel has banned the flying of the Palestinian flag, that Israeli soldiers patrol the streets of the Gaza and the West Bank, and that Muhammad al-Dura'z death is still mourned by the Palestinians. All of which are complete lies: the Palestinian flag flies everywhere; Israeli soldiers do not in fact occupy the streets of the West Bank and Gaza - they do go in to make arrests and enforce security, but as a rule they do not roam the streets, riffles poised at every child's head; and little Muhammad al-Dura - well he has become an icon used by the PA to encourage other children to martyr themselves. Check out the PA TV info piece that portrays al-Dura encouraging other children to follow him to "paradise" as shown on the PMW website www.pmw.org.il.
As a last note, I asked the woman why she failed to include in her speech the pain, death and humiliation of Palestinians at the hands of other Palestinians who have murdered more of their own than have been killed in clashes with the Israelis. By this time she was a quivering mess and told me that those killings - not murders mind you, but killings - fell outside the scope of her presentation. So there we have it fellows - it isn't that the truth isn't important, it just falls outside of the scope of their presentation!
Cheers
Vic
