When the chips are down, like they were in Nazi Germany, integrated, Germanised Jews were treated in the same way as religious Jews... antisemitism doesn't differentiate! Posted by: Jerusalem Posts on February 3, 2006 08:42 AM
Then, Jerusalem Post, how about viewing it in terms of warfare, this being spiritual. Amalek wasn't effected by removal of world, it attacked Moshe knowing full well that world was awed by the Jewish People at that point. How do you destroy the enemy, the enemy being Ha Kodesh Baruch hu? You, Jerusalem Post need to stop seeing this through the eyes of Oprah, and see it through the eyes of Yirmiyahu. A good son does not beat up other members of his father's family. The Torah Jews of Israel are the holiest people on the planet. Make a clone, call it a Jew...wait a minute...Ahab, Jeraboam ben Nevat, oh yeah, Tzidkiah ben Kenaanah. How about Achitophel, what a seeming Sharon he was...oh excuse me, too much Torah for Sharon. Mary, I have no idea what you're whittering about, but I know that in the eyes of antisemites, we're all the same... we're Jews! Whether we're religious or not, we're still Jews and should be united and not in conflict. As for Oprah - maybe you spend your time watching that rubbish, but I certainly don't. Its very easy to stereo-type Israelis from a distance. You have to recognise that Israel owes its re-establishment to both secular & religious zionists. Historically idealist jews from the (left) kibbutz movement settled inhospitable regions and were over-represented in Israels elite units whilst many ultra orthodox Jews managed to evade military service and devoted their life to religious study. Today their is a resurgence amongst the religious right particularly amongst the Yesha (West Bank) community who are dedicated to reclaiming the Jewish historic heartland and not ceding to arab & international pressure. Many secular & traditonal Jews are equally dedicated Zionists except an extremely vocal left-wing minority who I don't consider to be representative of all secular Jews. There are other issues that are of prime concern to the Israeli's and that includes the level of poverty and declining welfare support & the economy. Also don't forget that over a million arabs in Israel have full civic rights and their vote can prop up left-wing Israeli administrations, which is the priceIsrael pays for being an open & modern democracy. In the end the Jews regardless of their religious affiliation became the proverbial bar of soap or lampshade. It makes no difference to the anti semite whether a Jew is religious or not, what makes the difference is conviction. In America and elsewhere in the Western World, Jews have grown tired of being Jews and have not adapted to Christian Life. This appears to be the case in Israel as well. Israelis are no longer Zionists, nor do they believe in a Zionist State. They have in fact mirrored their enemies, namely the Nazis and are acting just like them. Redbear - whoever you are - do you ever think before you put pen to paper ? Do you have any idea how offensive your soap/lampshade holocaust imagery is to jews ? And as for comparing Israeli's to Nazis - don't be so ridiculous ! Posted by: Leonard on February 4, 2006 01:15 PM Post a comment |
