What angle of the TV screen were you looking at? Listen, I sat through a full half hour of O'Reilly's crap just to hear Lee tear them a new one (as you promised) - and he did nothing of the sort! All his statements came out sounding like alien conspiracy theories! Even O'Reilly - who HATES Georgetown University - agreed with the school's rep that this was an issue of "freedom of speech"! O'Reilly asked - are they terrorists... do they support terrorism... are they wanted by the US government... yada yada yada - All Kaplan could say was NO! He brought none of his proof - said nothing nearly as great as what he states in his articles - and worst of all, just sat there looking like a pug face dog! I couldn't believe my eyes!! Where was the Lee Kaplan we all came to know & love? All I have to say is, way to blow a once in a life time opportunity! Do you realize how many media outlets are going to contact those anti-Israeli pigs now that O'Reilly de facto supported them by not agreeing with Lee? What Stop the ISM has literally done is draw more attention to the ISM/PSM than they could have garnered themselves. I am truly mistified by both of your stupidity! The important thing here is the exposure that Lee's explanation got, that's all. Huge exposure. And due modesty, my letter to O'Reilly certainly didn't hurt, to understate. Ultimately, it's unimportant, as you said before, Bill, if ISM/PSM will go on w the conference or not. What is important is their future, which looks uncertain, to say the least. GU spokesman brought the FBI and the Foggy Bottom to his defense (saying that he got their approval of ISM/PSM as non-terror gr's), and Ohio and MIchigan Univ's ex's of holding the conferences before. are they terrorists... NO. Neither Lee nor anyone else ever said they were.

Yeah, right, but it didn't hurt either, for sure! You know, while I got a "read receipt" for my e-letter to O'Reilly, I didn't get it from Cal Thomas and Hanity. Hmmm... Different universes w different Outlook Expresses configs? Posted by: Dan Barkye on February 9, 2006 11:51 PM
I thought Lee did a great job. Its not easy to compress years of scholarship into a five minute soundbite. Less managed to do this without a wasted word. Unfortunately O'Reilly played softball with the Prof but he did warn him that The Factor will be watching him and Georgetown. That can be huge. Posted by: Ted Belman on February 10, 2006 07:08 AM
I agree with several on this forum, Lee Kaplan had a great chance to prove that the ISM was an anti semitic organization up to no good, and he blew it. He in fact looked like a scared puppy dog. Posted by: redbear on February 10, 2006 08:49 AM
Is the show available online anywhere? Posted by: Joeboy on February 10, 2006 09:20 AM
I think that Lee did a good job for the short time that he was given. On the contrary, it was the GU spokesman that looked to me frightened and apologetic. Posted by: Dan Barkye on February 10, 2006 11:57 AM
Lee seemed self-confident and very knowledgeable, and he certainly conveyed the notion that there is more negative info on ISM/PSM than what the time alloted, allowed to spill. Posted by: Dan Barkye on February 10, 2006 12:00 PM
Redbear, I don't know what you were watching, unless perhaps you tuned in to "Beavis and Butthead" by mistake. Lee came across as very confident and sure of his facts while the Georgetown public relations drone stammered and stuttered on more than one occasion. I suppose that, being an American, he can't practice taqqiya like a Palestinian so he was uncomfortable about having to defend the conference.

Bill O'Reilly who made a big issue out of retail outlets saying "happy holidays" instead of "merry Christmas", threatening to boycott them, defends the right of an organization that advocates terrorism to speak at Georgetown, as a matter of free speech. Strange priorities that guy has. Posted by: Laura on February 10, 2006 06:27 PM Post a comment |
Palestine Solidarity Movement at Georgetown University
Lee Kaplan on the Bill O'Reilly Show
by Bill Levinson
Lee Kaplan of StopTheISM appeared on tonight's O'Reilly Factor to expose the Palestine Solidarity Movement's (or International Solidarity Movement's) advocacy and facilitation of terroristic violence, recruitment of human shields, and possible plans to use Georgetown University resources (meeting facilities) to conspire to violate Federal anti-boycott laws by orchestrating a boycott of Israel.
Georgetown's defense of the conference was weak and uncertain. Its representative stuttered a little as he explained that the conference was "free speech" and that law enforcement had assured Georgetown that the Palestine Solidarity Movement is not a terrorist organization. He may certainly be excused for his uncertainty given the job he had to do, just as we feel sorry in advance for whatever lawyer has to defend Osama bin Laden if he is ever captured alive.
While the Palestine Solidarity Movement is not a Foreign Terrorist Organization as defined by the U.S. State Department, it is on record that the organization openly advocates terroristic violence and facilitates terrorism in Israel. Lee Kaplan pointed out quite rightly that the International Solidarity Movement never handles weapons or bombs; it merely interferes with Israeli security operations to make it easier for terrorists to do their evil work.
Furthermore, it is on record that Georgetown's Administration has been informed that the Palestine Solidarity Movement may in fact be conspiring to violate the laws of the United States by planning and organizing a boycott of Israel. A certified letter has been sent to the University's Directors (Trustees) with relevant information from the PSM's own Web site that proves that the organization is in fact orchestrating an anti-Israel boycott, although it does not pass judgment on whether this crosses the line to a violation of the law.
Finally, it is on record that Georgetown's Administration and Directors have been informed, the latter by certified mail, of the PSM's advocacy and facilitation of terrorism, recruitment of human shields (e.g. Rachel Corrie), and anti-Semitic hate speech.
The only remaining question at this point is whether Georgetown University will knowingly and willfully allow its facilities to be used for "free speech" by an organization that is every bit as repugnant to civilized society as the Ku Klux Klan. While even the KKK has a First Amendment right to freedom of expression, neither it nor the PSM have a right to use private property (e.g. Georgetown University) to promote hatred.
