"These cartoons are indeed offensive to the belief of Muslims," State Department spokesman Kurtis Cooper said in answer to a question. "We all fully recognize and respect freedom of the press and expression but it must be coupled with press responsibility. Inciting religious or ethnic hatreds in this manner is not acceptable."

"According to a poll published in the nation’s leading newspaper, Yediot Ahronot, over one-half of the public, 57%, blames “settlers,” Yesha residents for this week’s violence in Amona. 16% points the finger of blame at security forces and 4% at Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. 10% place the blame on both sides equally."
49% of the respondents believe that Olmert was motivated by his own political aspirations ahead of the 28 March elections. 43% believe it was the Supreme Court that permitted the eviction, not the government.

Urge Protestors Struck by Police Clubs to Seek Medical Attention

Amona medical staff issued a plea to protestors who were struck by police clubs at Wednesday's clashes and not treated by medical staff to report to their local hospital for examination.
The call was issued after several cases were reported of people who were struck in the head by riot police clubs, did not get their wounds checked out, and today were revealed to have concussions that can potentially harm bodily movements at a future time.

Afterwards they smashed him on the head, and that caused his condition to deteriorate. Yechiam regained consciousness over the night, and has even begun to speak. "The police came with the purpose of killing," another brother, Amotz, concluded."

With no warning, the police just rushed us, crushed us, hit us with their clubs... Many of the girls fell down, and then I found myself on the floor, alone, and then two policemen started dragging me away on the rocky ground, and at the same time another one was hitting me, and mocking me: 'Go home, little girl.' Then he stopped, and another one started hitting me. They dragged me to a pole, and continued to mock me. Then they left me...
