The United Jewish Communities’ “National Jewish Population Survey 2000″ – a decennial demographic study — found that, due to a negative net birthrate (i.e., Jewish deaths exceeded Jewish births for that period), America’s Jewish population had declined by 300,000 souls from 1990 to 2000. This translates to an average net loss of 82 Jews per day for that decade. This is hardly surprising in light of the study’s finding that 70% of Jewish women in the United States between the ages of 25 and 29 were childless.
The study also discovered that, due to an ongoing intermarriage rate in excess of 50%, of all children under the age of 12 with Jewish parentage in the United States, less than half have two Jewish parents. Of the more than half with a gentile parent, (according to other surveys) only a quarter thereof will be raised as Jews. Of these, only a small minority will marry other Jews, as it will be almost impossible for an intermarried Jew, however sincere, to convince his or her child to do what he or she failed to do, namely: marry a fellow Jew. The assimilation of American Jews is irreversible, and there is no point in expending great resources to counter it. Even if the intermarriage rate were to be brought down miraculously to 30% from the current figure of 70-95% among atheists, in three generations the number of Jews would decrease by two-thirds.
The goal now is to jump off the ship and not sink along with it. Israel makes many American Jews uncomfortable as she reminds them of their own unwelcome roots. Their conscious choice—to normalize Israel by making her as liberal and peaceful as America—is based on their subconscious wish that Israel cease to exist. By connecting Israel to American Jewry, Israelis subject themselves to untold political pressures.
More importantly, American Jews act as a beacon to post-Zionist Israeli Jews. If Jews can live outside Israel, be respected, and dictate US policies, then it would be sensible to move from Israel to America. Decadence is sweet, and assimilated American Jews draw their Israeli brethren. So far, America has not used its major weapon against Israel—immigration policy. The day the United States opens its borders to Israelis, our demography will change radically.
This will happen unless Israel decries foreign assimilation in the strongest terms, abandons ties with Jewish organizations that tolerate interfaith families, and tells her youth that they can be Jews in Israel, or good people in America, but never both.
People are not only a stomach, but also a brain. Not only brain, but also heart. Not only I, but We. I wouldn’t like a person who insults me continually, much less someone who insults us. The Bible says, “Love your neighbor,” but a neighbor is one who deviates from accepted ways along with you, not one who abandons you to join the accepted ways. Had I been born just a few years earlier, I would have had two chances out of three to end up in a gas chamber—and I’m very sensitive to Jews who finish the Nazis’ job. Such people remain Jewish, but they are Jewish criminals. Had they murdered an old lady, I would have helped them evade prosecution, but they murder the Jews in themselves, in their children and grandchildren. And there is no room for tolerance.
A gross exaggeration which minimizes the real holocaust.
A major reason why I would be as willing to marry a Christian as a Jew has to do with the fact that there are four denominations of Judaism in the United States:
(1) Conservative
(2) Reform
(3) Orthodox
(4) Liberal Democrat (the vast majority)
The latter have a Torah that says, for example, that Jews have a religious obligation to support gun control. They worship a golden
calfdonkey along with Franklin Roosevelt the Father, Barack Obama the Son, and Lyndon Johnson the Holy Ghost. Just take a look at the National “Jewish” “Democratic” Council for example.If a bunch of terrorists opened fire in the U.S., I would rather be surrounded by 50 Bible Belt Christians than 500 New York Jews (think Michael Bloomberg, Nita Lowey, and Jerrold Nadler for example), because then 45 or so people would be shooting back with me as opposed to perhaps one or two.
I think he was thinking about you and those like you no less than those evil liberal Democrat FDR loving Reform Jews. I think he might be correct. Stick with the Fucking Pollacks, that’s your speed. Those evangelical Christians are all about love and harmony aren’t they? Why would they protect or accept a Jew hater like you. They don’t even have to spend an effort to convert you.
Losing 10% of Jews each decade, may not be on par with the physical destruction of European Jewry, but the American equivalent is similar in that the results when all is said and done are much the same. In the case of American Jewry the loss of so many Jews is in absolute numbers of Jews a major disaster.Only where American Jews are concerned it’s slower and self inflicted.

You sound like an apologist for Obama & Co. You say I am a Jew hater because I despise “Jews” whose BEHAVIORAL CHOICES include prostitution of the Jewish religion for political causes like gun control (Rabbi Eric Yoffe to be precise), election of Barack Obama, collaboration with enemies of both Israel and the United States, and whitewashing of anti-Semitic hate speech from MoveOn.org (NJDC). Well, yes, I do despise “Jews” who choose to be kapos (unlike the ones in WWII who often had guns to their heads).
And if things really went bad, with militant “Muslims” running amok and engaging in their usual behavior, I would rather have one “Pollack” behind me than a pair of NJDC “Jews” next to me because, in the former case, my back would at least be safe. I think Bill Levinson’s position is perfectly reasonable, and labeling him a Jew hater for it is utterly grotesque. As a Christian, I would rather marry a pleasant Hindu woman than a “Christian” woman with dreadful non-Christian beliefs: one who believed in partial birth abortion or who was an anti-Semite, for instance.
I’ll refer to a Biblical example: “Num 12:1 Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had married, for he had married a Cushite woman.” And nothing here indicates that Moses was a Jew hater because he married a Cushite woman.
I am a supporter of Obama & co as long as they effect a break in our relationship by cutting Israel off of the material and psychological dependency that exists today. BB and no other Israeli leader will do it voluntarily so I hope Obama closes our option. What he does in and to America for me is a curiosity but not an overriding compulsive concern to me. America elected him , deal with it . I’m here not there.
Except for my family who I inherited from birth and a few friends I don’t care anymore what happens to American Jews Like the sentiment of Shoher most of you aren’t worth our concern. In 30-40 years if not sooner you will become as a community totally irrelevant. The only ones I have any confidence with, are those Jews who still have a strong survival instinct as Jews, and they are other Israelis.

Yamit, I’ll make a final comment to try to avoid being misunderstood. First, there is 0% chance I would actually marry a Hindu woman. And I’m assuming that Bill wouldn’t actually marry a Christian (tho I’m not sure if this is the case. I certainly understand why not doing so would be the case for seriously religious Jews.) What I’m getting from Bill Levinson’s remarks (rightly or wrongly) is a commentary of how pissed off he is with Jews whom he views as having forsaken positive Jewish values, and in fact, become an enemy of the Jewish people. I respect his concerns. I have similar feelings about similar types of things.
Those who are concerned about American assimilation should calm down a bit for the following reasons:
1) As the community becomes smaller, those who remain will be the “breeders.” This will turn the birthrate around. All of Western European Jewry arouse from 10,000 initial community members.
2) Non-observing Jews will bifurcate, as they are doing right now, into complete assimilationists and practicing Jews.
3) The edges of Judaism are indeed porous and will allow non-Jews to enter and replace those leaving.
4) The intelligence and stability of Jewish life will assert itself in the face of the absolute chaos of a lawless society, which America has become in the blink of an eye (about 18 months).
5) Judaism is based upon the behavior of individual Jews and the families that they generate, not “societal norms.” Assimilation is the process of house cleaning. Psychopaths will leave and altruists will arrive. The fearful will leave and the brave will assert themselves.
6) The greatest threat to American Jewry is Aliyah, since it is the dedicated, educated and intelligent that leave.
All this is premised upon an orderly process of breakdown and rebirth. Under unpredictable catastrophic conditions, all bets are off.
Let me assure you that Levinson understands very little about Jewish values or for that matter anything else Jewish. Most of what he considers are Jewish values aren’t but Christian or what Christians might intemperate as Jewish values from their own scriptural teaching. BTW, what most Christians ascribe to be Jewish values aren’t. If most American Jews were conservative Republicans then Levisnson would not be critical of them.
His criteria is not who is a good Jew or bad Jew it is formulated based mainly on his own personal world view. If his world view were a Jewish world view I would accept and mostly agree with his opinions of other Jews.

Yamit: Jews are more than a religious entity. There have been and are cultural Jews who are not observant but still identify themselves as Jews. They might be passionate about Jewish issues expressing their ethnicity
