A necessary response to those who throw stones and set fires

B’Tselem video shows Yitzhar settlers firing rubber bullets at Palestinian who hurled stones at them. Victim in stable condition. Footage shows IDF soldiers failed to intervene

It is imperative that Israel not tolerate these provocations. Israel’s response must serve as a deterrent. If the GOI won’t do it, the people must. Ted Belman

Yitzhar spokesman Avraham Binyamin said that the settlement’s emergency squad and fire extinguishing team had been called to put out several fires started by Arabs from the village. “This is the third Saturday in a row that Arabs start fires in the purpose of harming Yitzhar’s western parts,” he said. “The team was attacked by a mob of hundreds of rioters who hurled stones at them.”

Wikipedia has a critical article about Yitzhar

The settlement has a total area of 1,663 dunams 35 percent of which is privately owned Palestinian land, according to Peace Now, and is zoned for over one thousand families in single family homes.

I know how badly Wikipedia lies about many things, not just the Mideast. And when it comes to Price Tag/Palestinian battles, who can you trust?

What is Yitzhar’s side of the story?

Are they on private Palestinian land? If not, why does Peace Now and Wikipedia claim they are?

Supposedly, Israel has Hasbara teams correcting Wikipedia errors/lies. Where are they, if their story is a lie?

  2. Shy Guy says:

Almost every last grain of these “privately owned” lands have no one who can prove ownership by legal deed or any other form of legally established possession.

The name is misleading. “Privately owned” simply means that it is not “government owned”. However, it does not mean that it is or was ever legally owned by anyone else.

So where are the supposed Israeli Hasbara teams correcting Wikipedia, then?

Israeli hasbara stinks. This is not unique to Wikipedia. This is across the board.

  5. Mike Lumish says:

Y’know, I despise the entire notion of “hasbara.”

After 2,000 years of getting our asses kicked, the Jewish people owe no one an explanation for anything.

  6. Next time, use real bullets. A stone is a weapon capable of inflicting serious or fatal injury (that is how musloids execute people) and merits a response in kind.

  7. bernard ross says:

discussions of land ownership are a red herring. Who raises a stone to injure jews should die. Who has a thought in his heart to kill jews should die. Who helps those who wish to kill jews must die. This is the message of the new millenia which should be clearly shown to the world without apology. Too many have got away with murdering and attacking Jews. The villages and families of those who attack jews should be driven from Israel. There should be no tolerance in Israel for jew hatred.

right wing anti-semitism (traditonal Christian WASP) and nazi sentiment is alarmingly growing high in the US,
