1.On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options, and then click the AutoFormat As You Type tab.
2.Under Replace as you type, select or clear the Internet and network paths with hyperlinks check box.
The browsers I use have a command under the right click when you are over a link and this copies the URL (“Copy Link Address” in my Chrome browser). You can use this URL to create a link from scratch which is the most reliable way to do that. Learning a little HTML can go a long way. I recommend the following tutorials site:
Why don’t you try using OpenOffice.org Writer? It has many more useful features than you can find in MS Word, and because it is part of an ongoing open software project, you can suggest useful changes which typically find their way into the next release. Moreover, it is freeware, so it won’t count you any money at all. Almost all the comments I have written on Israpundit wound up in the “My Documents” folder in MS Word format selected from the OpenOffice.org Writer screen.
@ Paul:
I am using Chrome and XP I can still copy an url and then link whatever I highlight.
Normally I copy an article with 3 or 4 links and a few pictures and | paste it into my WP program when posting.
My problem is when I copy the article my clipboard doesn’t include the html underlying the article. When I paste I only paste text. When I try to paste the same in WORD, usually I get three choices as to what to paste. Now I only get one choice, namely, text.
Try typing “cannot paste links” in the search window and see if what comes up looks familiar. There is also a forum to beg for help, which I am always ready to do for my tech problems.
Whatever. You say your problem is with WordPress. Go over the WordPress support and see if you can find a solution. Use the forums and ask for help there. I’m sure there will be any number of people who know what to do and are willing to help you out.
Maybe this?
1.On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options, and then click the AutoFormat As You Type tab.
2.Under Replace as you type, select or clear the Internet and network paths with hyperlinks check box.
On what browser?
I found a checkbox somewhere when I clicked the Office-button (up left) and then Alternatives for Word at the bottom of that box.
@ Ted Belman:
Good question. What browser are you using?

and especially:

Watch me make a link right now using the above URL or “link address” and using the post formatting buttons above the posting window:
This links to the link tutorial

@ Ted Belman:
It sounds like the place you are pasting is the problem. Where are you pasting the copied text and links into?
@ Paul:
Into Word or Word Press which is the software Israpundit is set up on. Same problem The formatting is not being copied.
@ Sharbano:
What tools menu? On what browser?
Ted, there is a support site for WordPress here:
http://wordpress.org/support/

@ Paul:
My problem starts with only copying text and no formatting. So its not a pasting problem.
