The anatomy of a fabrication

By Ted Belman

A few days ago I published a post from Israel Matzav entitled Obama’s ‘intelligence’ agencies urge preparing for a ‘post-Israel Middle East’. This post referenced an article titled, “Preparing For A Post Israel Middle East”, by one Franklin Lamb in which he referred to the findings of a 92 page draft Report :

The study was commissioned by the US Intelligence Community comprising 16 American intelligence agencies with an annual budget in excess of $ 70 billion. The IC includes the Departments of the Navy, Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Defense Intelligence Agency, Departments of Energy, Homeland Security, State, Treasure, Drug Enforcement Agency, Federal Bureau of Investigation, National Security Agency, National Geospatial Intelligence Agency, National Reconnaissance Agency and the Central Intelligence Agency commissioned the study.

I now am of the opinion that he so attributed it not because he had knowledge to that effect but in order to make it sound more credible. Liars often provide great detail on some collateral point to add credibility to the lies they are telling . Furthermore he reported that Ros Lehtinen and Kristol would be attacking Obama for backing such a report.

I wrote to him and asked how they had come into possession of such a report and how he knows that they are going to attack Obama with it as he alleged. He replied that this draft report was circulated to some members of Congress and others ( which doesn’t seem likely) and he had no evidence that Ros Lehtinen and Kristol had copies of it, much less were going to attack Obama over its findings. He acknowledge that he did not have a copy of the draft report.

Lamb simply made this allegation to add credibility to his story. The whole point of this hoax was to achieve a platform for his venom.

I asked Shoshana Bryen what she knew about him and she advised:

Lamb works for the “Sabra and Shatilla Foundation” which makes him suspect when it comes to describing Israeli “occupation” and other aspects of the Israeli character, as in “Israel has failed as a claimed democratic state and continued American financial and political cover will not change its continuing devolution as international pariah state.” The CIA wouldn’t be responsible for language like that, nor “apartheid,” “increasingly brutal occupation” or so many of the other inflamed sentences. Ted, I suspect Lamb either embellished or constructed them himself.

The points are objectively wrong when they talk about Americans resenting the money Israel gets – even those who don’t know that 75% of it is spent in the US don’t argue to eliminate it. The one thing the “Arab Spring” has not concerned itself with is “Palestine.” Even Morsi, when he went to Tehran, talked about getting rid of Assad, not about Palestine. Libya, Tunisia, etc. – its more about the Sunni revolution than about Palestinians, who no one likes.

OTOH – and there’s always another hand – the CIA has been SO wrong about SO many things (Indian and Pak nukes; the third stage of the NK rocket capability; Mubarak; Yemen; who’s who in Syria thus far, etc.) that if it turned out to be what the CIA really thinks, I guess I’d just shake my head.

Many others have commented to me about his nefarious activities. Google him for more info.

Clare Lopez replied:

You’re right, Ted – would also agree that CIA is not in the habit of circulating draft reports, classified or otherwise, to members of Congress.

And if it were a bona fide “leak,” MSM would be all over it.

I mean, what Frank is suggesting is that the CIA is planning on Armageddon – because there is no post-Israel w/o a nuclear war.

Actually this is the Arab vision of a ME without Israel. Lamb is trying to convince Americans to share their vision.

Franklin Lamb (R), author of “US Preparing for a Post-Israel Middle East?” with child murderer Samir Kuntar.

An article in the August 28 “Foreign Policy Journal” entitled “US Preparing for a Post-Israel Middle East” claims to be based on a leaked document from a CIA staffer, commissioned by the US Intelligence Community, comprised of all four branches of the military, the Coast Guard, the Departments of State, Treasury, the Drug Enforcement Agency, the FBI and the National Security Agency. The document “conclusively reveals” that the CIA thinks Israel is the greatest threat on the face of the Earth to the interests of the United States.

EXACTLY the point I made in the original thread on Mr. Lamb.

What Franklin Lamb advocates essentially amounts to nazism.

What does it say that a supposedly conservative publication like the Family Research Council published such false, antisemitic drek?

  6. Not Ovenready says:

That’s exactly what I’m thinking. Given the writers that they usually publish (Ledeen, et al) I thought it was either a joke, the work of a plant within, or they have new financial backing….

I can’t figure out if Franklin Lamb is an American version of George Galloway.

He is less erudite, but more academic.

If he has a residence in the USA, somebody should protest in front of his house.

This guy is doing real damage.
