      @ Shy Guy:
      i don’t BELIEVE this!!!!
this really does not bode well…
should we just throw our hands in the air and give up, shy?

I asked Silverglad if he saw anyone there who he might be able to de-program. He wasn’t optimistic. “It is a combination of ethnics, extreme leftists, and misguided people,” he said.

Across the way a round of “Od Avinu Chai” broke out, competing with calls for “Not another nickel, not another dime, no more money for Israel’s crimes.”

“It is a combination of ethnics, extreme leftists, and misguided people,” he said.

Crudely put, maybe condescending by calling them ‘ethnics’; but very accurate.

Justin Wooten had heeded the Facebook call. A student at Temple University, Wooten had been in town for a Communist Party conference and would be returning to Philadelphia after the protest (a small suitcase rested at his feet). I asked him what he thought of the latest flare-up between Israel and Hamas. “Zionism is inherently racist,” he said. “This violence is not surprising.”

Mr. Wooten shows up on the way home from a Communist Party meeting, because hey … Isn’t Israel racist?!

      Wow! These kids are clueless.

And the writer makes no comment?!

It is left hanging there as if this is a normal American kid.

Obama and EU are pressing BB to agree to Arab agreement Between Morsi and Hamas. The agreement from what I understand will leave the status quo intact. Word is that BB has not formally agreed. The IDF is against, many ministers in cabinet are against and most of the residents of the south are against. Let’s see if Fear of poor election results or Obama prevails.

Chanel 10 in Israel did a poll last thurs found 91% of Israelis supported the military operation. 5% no opinion.

BB got 41% support Barak 18% all the other political contenders including Olmert got less than 10% Lapid 2%

BB got a plurality where any normal PM would have had a majority . No big surprise with Barak.

My gut tells me if they end it now they will be punished in the elections and if the cost goes up with a land incursion they will also be punished in the elections. The only way for them to come out of this whole if not strengthened is for a real viewable result. Some will always buy spin but the opposition will have a field day if they quit too soon and the electorate especially in the South will punish them.

      yamit,
almost unanimously (withthe exception of the usual suspects)every person that comments on this blog is expressing essentially the same message, with the obvious variations in intensity, ferocity or degree of rendering the message verbose or laconic:

“why isn’t the enemy identified for what he is, the enemy?
why is the enemy allowed to continue living (read ‘status quo’) especially when it is so easy to destroy him totally, with no loss of life to our soldiers?
and as ted’s title of another thread says, how can ‘smart’ people be so f***ing stupid!!! (i think he phrased it slightly differently…)

      yamit!
this just does not make sense!
help me see SOME light at the end of this tunnel…as shmuel halevi says ‘as long as the ‘combina’ is in…’it don’t look so good.

Yamit, 1 in 20 Israelis is Arab so this means many Israeli Arabs also support the operation. I wouldn’t put it past the pusillanimous BB to cancel the operation in order to curry favor with Obama. The only thing stopping him from calling it off is that its enormously popular – and a vain politician like BB isn’t going to cut his own political throat for Obama. If he does decide to throw in the towel, he will lose the next election for sure.

    7. Max says:

I would like to see every pro Hamas person in my country deported back to their Islamic Terrorist places of origin like Lebanon or Gaza Region or wherever or tired and executed for treason. Some people might think that is extreme, that is not even close to extreme. Is is simple necessary self defence.

One day the surviving Western culture will realize they have been tricked by greedy and deceitful leaders and a lying media. Because the Jihadists are doing the same thing to us here as they are doing to Israel and one day as they are destroying the last of our resistance it will be clear and it will be too late.
When that day comes people will realize that the only solution to an extremist culture is to be extreme.

I listened to CNN today. They were absolutely biased yet while pretending to be “fair and balanced”.
The main commentator for hours repeated over and over again that Israel’s solution is “antiquated”.
Thus he continually blamed Israel – yet for some mysterious reason he never mentioned what was a “modern” solution to Terrorism. Did he have a method to hypnotize rockets with words? No of course not.

I find when you press these people to find out what the “solution” they don’t have one and don’t care. The real solution they are thinking is to exterminate Israelis because if someone is not thinking of defending from assassins then they are obviously hoping the assassins will be successful.

CNN – most of the Western Media – Liars all.
I just take the grim satisfaction of knowing that this is all coming back to bite the Western public. By surrendering Israel to totalitarian murdering terrorists they are surrendering themselves. They have invited the beast into their own houses and when they start getting bitten they have only themselves to blame.

      Free free Palestine.
      I agree.
Kick Arabs and Muslims out of there.
      Then Palestine will be free.

    9. SHmuel HaLevi says:

My response would have been different than singing “OD AVINU CHAI”.
Then agin, normal human beings would respond differently to genocidal threats.
We or at least large number of us… do not have the foggiest idea about WINNING a war. We must change diskettes dear people.
They must be made to understand that as in the Bible is mandated. Jews will destroy those that plan to harm us before they can do so.

    10. WB says:

Give up the idea that argument, debate, and op-eds that state the legal and historical facts or ask others to pity us will make a difference. Look for different tactics, such as those used by the Contras against the Nicaraguan communists. One person inside these hateful groups can gum up the works in short order. If you want to make a difference, stop talking and take action.

    11. rongrand says:

The world is nuts if they think Israelis should sit idle by and allow Hamas to fire rockets at them at will.

      G-d’s patience is wearing thin.

The world will have a price to pay for being silent.

    14. WB says:

@ rongrand: As we’ve seen since 2005, our government here in Israel HAS sat by and allowed rockets to be fired from Gaza. The actions against the terrorists have been portrayed as harsh, and they have certainly been impressive. But they’ve always been half-measures, stopping short of ending the madness. Operation Lead Balloon (Cast Lead) didn’t stop them. Operation Pillar of Smoke (Pillar of Defense) won’t stop them either. With all the military strength at our disposal, the fact is that our response has been more theatre than anything. With the current operation, IDF will do some damage, as happened in Cast Lead. If we enter Gaza, some of our brave soldiers will be sacrificed. But so far as the world is concerned, there will just be more pictures of dead children and more ranting about “disproportionate response”. In the end, we’ll withdraw and then assist the “humanitarian” efforts to rebuild. This has been the policy since Oslo, and there’s absolutely no reason to think that things will change. Huge sums of money will be sent into Gaza. Nesher and other large industries, together with the moshavim and kibbutzim along the Gaza envelope will work with NGOs to “facilitate trade”. Foreign aid will flow. More smuggling tunnels will be built. Egypt will become more openly active in Gaza. As it is, Egypt has managed to regain everything it lost in 1967, up to the point where they were stopped at Yad Mordechai by Jews who understood the threat and how to deal with it. Pretty soon we’ll have Hamas/Al Qaeda in Syria, then in Jordan. Wishful thinking and hoping for miracles will only worsen the situation. All things considered, we’re in for a rough ride. The only thing that might bring about the necessary change in policy is a devastating attack on Tel Aviv and Ramat Aviv Gimmel. While we should all hope this doesn’t happen, we should get ready for it and be prepared to act when it starts to unfold.

    15. Davida Rosenberg says:

      @ WB:

And as usual, Rome is strangely silent. Et tu Brute?
A foreign nation which calls itself the eternal city, has shown it’s hand. Is there a drone over the Vatican? What are they thinking, I do wonder.

    16. Jerry G says:

The most cost and casuality efficient way of defeating Hamas is simple. Cut off the electricity and water to Gaza. In two weeks all of Gaza will look like Staten Island after Hurricane Sandy. Can you imagine if we supplied electricity and water to the Germans and Japanese during World WarII?

    17. WB says:

      Davida Rosenberg Said:

Good point. Perhaps Herr Papa is checking on his options, consulting with Saint Shimon Peres about what to say.

    18. rongrand says:

      @ Jerry G:

Yes, I recently stated, a few years ago Yamit said Israel should shut off all utilities to Gaza.

Why allow them the luxury of enjoying those benefits as they rain rockets on you.

And if the residence don’t like it, tell them utilities can and will be restored when they remove Hamas.

    19. Max says:

      WB Said:

But they’ve always been half-measures, stopping short of ending the madness. Operation Lead Balloon (Cast Lead) didn’t stop them. Operation Pillar of Smoke (Pillar of Defense) won’t stop them either.

You are right – everything you wrote. It’s all so disappointing.

‘U.S. and U.K. warn against ground war in Gaza’

      That’s the headline now – it’s over, it’s finished.
Israel only had a short window to get the troops started before political action was taken against them – and this is it.
They would how have to go against the explicit wishes of Obama and the UK, I suppose it is true Obama has killed Israel.

So failed once again. A waste of time.

The thing of it is, Israel can probably go in there get Rafah and the Corridor in 48 hours and absolutely destroy Hamas – if they would stop tiptoeing.
Hamas will get more and more advanced weapons – the destruction of Israel on this path is assured.

Now those savages are all over here in my Country. Israel’s failure to eradicate Hamas has enabled them to sow their evil seed here. They have built their power bases with their immigrant pipeline and are already making our lives hell.
Every time they speak on the news etc it is obvious there is nothing ‘innocent’ about any of them – the immigrants and the “civilians’ of Gaza are all indoctrinated terrorists.

Unless the Western masses reject terrorism in all it’s forms and crack down on the terrorist immigrants we are all lost.

    20. WB says:

      Max Said:

Unless the Western masses reject terrorism in all it’s forms and crack down on the terrorist immigrants we are all lost.

I don’t see any historical evidence that “the masses” ever do anything constructive. It’s always a small percentage (between 1% and 3%) who make things happen; “the masses” then follow. We don’t have a George Soros or someone in his economic class, and without this level of financial aid we’ll never be able to get beyond the ambulance-chasing, after-the-fact/defensive commentary that we call “Hasbara”. Herzl didn’t get anywhere until he convinced wealthy Jewish capitalists to support his cause. I hope that somebody will research and write about this overlooked fact (that capitalists brought Zionism into the political domain). Only later did the Marxists take over, and they dominate to this day.
