Rand Paul stands firm against Obama’s ‘king complex’ on gun control

    By Andrew L. Jaffee, netwmd.com

Today President Obama attacked our right to bear arms as granted by the Constitution’s Second Amendment (see here also). Not only did Obama propose legislation that would destroy the Second Amendment, but he also threatened to skirt Congress — and the people of the United States — by enacting “gun control” measures through “executive orders.” Obama thinks he can rule by decree. Not so in the U.S., where the president’s ability to implement “regulations” is greatly limited. But President Obama, the man who would be king, is facing stiff opposition from concerned citizens and from legislators like Kentucky Senator Rand Paul:

[TAKE ACTION NOW TO PROTECT GUN RIGHTS]

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul plans to introduce legislation in Congress soon nullifying the executive orders on guns announced by President Barack Obama on Wednesday, a source familiar with the plans confirmed to The Daily Caller.

The Republican legislator plans to reveal his plans for legislation during an appearance on Sean Hannity’s show on Fox News on Wednesday night, the source said.

Obama on Wednesday announced during a White House ceremony that he plans to initiate 23 executive actions meant to curb gun violence in the wake of the Newtown, Conn., massacre last year. …

… Paul’s legislation is expected to do three things: nullify Obama’s executive orders, defund them and ask the Senate to file a court challenge to them.

“I’m afraid that President Obama may have this king complex sort of developing, and we’re going to make sure that doesn’t happen,” Paul said.

CONTACT SENATOR PAUL AND THANK HIM FOR DEFENDING THE 2ND AMENDMENT FROM OBAMA

    1. Remind the Democrats that gun control is how they lose elections. Al Gore lost his home state of Tennessee in this manner in 2000.

I reminded my Democratic legislator, Matthew Cartwright (freshman) that long-time Congressman Paul Kanjorski, for whom I voted consistently through 2006, forgot that Barry the Buffoon and Nancy Pelosi are not his bosses, which is why Lou Barletta now has his job.

Also, New York’s dishonest governor, Andrew Cuomo, just proved that his wing of the Democratic Party has in fact declared war on the Second Amendment by banning .22 caliber TARGET PISTOLS (because they take 10-round magazines, the same number of shots one fires at a standard NRA pistol target).

Democrats have a plan to stay in power. Aside from vote fraud, the supply of new immigrants to keep voting Democrat for the rest of the century is inexhaustible.

The great weakness in the “philosophy” of Democracy as it is now defined.

Back to the drawing board, as it were.

I’m afraid you’re right. This is why Obama and the democrats have no concern about the political fallout from their gun grabbing agenda.

WALKS LIKE A DUCK, quacks like a duck… could the United States of America be morphing into … GASP! A totalitarian state?

Authorities’ disrespect for laws protecting the individual, the widening power of the president, the ever widespread surveillance, the NDAA, the confiscations, the arrests, restrictions on freedom of speech, degrading groping at airport security, mini-regulations of daily life, and much more… If we’re going by evidence alone, the situation is extremely alarming. This is the country that lost so many lives fighting fascism, and that challenged Communist dictatorships during the Cold War.

Here is an article with a small but stricking sample of how government tentacles are suffocating democracy and turning the country into a Stasi nation. Some of the local samples listed here seem ridiculous and one would tend to dismiss them as aberrations caused by a few control freaks. But they fit into a national pattern of government intimidation of the individual, thereby CONDITIONING citizens to accept police-state control of their lives. Those who grow up under these conditions will be less likely to speak out and rebel. Just think of the new Orwellian policies now being imposed on school children, including tracking microchips.

Bennett: Destroy Jewish Towns on Arab Land – Jewish Home party head says he favors demolishing Jewish towns built on private Arab land – as happened in Migron. Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria (Shomron) that are found to have been built on privately owned Arab land should be destroyed, Bayit Yehudi (Jewish Home) party head Naftali Bennett said Thursday, in an interview with Channel 2 to be aired later in the evening. “They should be removed like a home built on private land in [the Israeli city of] Raanana would be removed,” he opined. We told ya! Bennett is the elite’s pick a post-Netanyahu control of the country under the guise of “right-wing” government. http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/164315

No mention of compensating Arabs if they produce an actual proof of ownership, instead of expelling Jews.
BTW he is also in favor of reducing the defense budget!!!

The closest to a genuine patriotic right wing party is Aryeh Eldad and Michael Ben Ari’s Otzma LeIsrael. The rest of the right wing parties are all fakes aimed at keeping Jews from voting for the true nationalists. The elite foresaw Netanyahu’s future and came up with this new version to replace him.

I agree. But I am totally baffled by the following fact:
a week ago or so, yamit posted a link to a 2 hours speech made by the late rabbi kahane in Oceanside.
I listened to it totally mesmerized and sadly nodding in agreement to every statement.
He seemed VERY CONFIDENT that he could become the prime minister, let alone a majority in the Knesset.
Like you, I believe eldad and Ben ari to be his successors in ideology and approach (or at least as close as one could be)
My question is , how could they hope to eek just a few measly seats when, they should have a landslide???
what happened to all the ex-kach’niks? Where are they?
No way they have shed the kach ideology for a ‘peace now’?…..
What happened? What is happening? Is it in the water? Is it contagious

    8. Canadian Otter says:

      @ the phoenix:

what happened to all the ex-kach’niks? Where are they?

Excellent question. Maybe they can answer it, and tell us how they got into the present situation.

To outsiders the picture looks rather puzzling.

      - Nationalists want a nationalist government but they vote for Two-States Likud.
      - Nationalist politicians want a nationalist government but they never unite – even at critical times of impending disaster.
      - One of their most popular leaders campaigns for Two-States Likud.
      - Nationalists attempt at union four years ago (National Union) fizzled.

As long as nationalists persist in following Moshe Feiglin’s script, the right wing is doomed. His fixation with rescuing Likud from the left may be the wrench gumming up the works. But who knows, if he were to join Otzma LeIsrael, the elite would come up with some other scheme to keep nationalists spinning in confusion.

Any ideas out there to help these two Canadians understand? Anyone?

Otzma Leyisrael Brings Muslim Prayer to Tel Aviv – Otzma Leyisrael brings a mosque to an upscale Tel Aviv suburb, wakes residents with cries of ‘Allahu Akbar.’ ~~~ The Otzma Leyisrael party brought a mosque to an upscale suburb of Tel Aviv early on Thursday. At six in the morning activists began “prayer services” at the makeshift mosque, using a loudspeaker to blast prayers beginning “Allahu Akbar.” ~~~ When residents complained about the noise, activists pointed out that tens of thousands of Israelis living in the Pisgat Ze’ev neighborhood of northern Jerusalem wake up to the same noise every day. Mosques in the Pisgat Ze’ev area start their morning prayers before dawn. http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/164320

Re. Kahane. Would he have been more effective as an inspirational leader rather than as a politician? It seems to me that his honest statements worked against him in more than one way.

Also, how well did he know Israelis? His words were not nuanced enough to gain acceptance among those still not ready for his message. A professional politician can manage that. Not to lie, necessarily, but to withhold part of his agenda. An honest inspirational leader can’t.

No politician wanting to make headway – or keep his head – would advocate expulsion of the Arab population. They talk of bribing them to leave, instead. It’s more politically correct and increasingly acceptable. It’s a matter of progression: annexation first, then voluntary Arab emigration.

What aided his popularity was a lot of Arab terror incidents and which he exploited. Like the proverbial American ambulance chasing lawyers in America he was the Israeli version of Terror chaser. Whenever there was a terror attack there was Kahane demonstrating against Arabs and The Government, the left etc. As long as the Arabs kept killing the more his popularity grew. When there was a long lull in terror his popularity dropped.

Here Are The 23 Executive Orders On Gun Safety Signed Today (1/16/2013) By The President

President Obama has signed 23 executive orders designed to address the problem of gun violence in America. The following are the items addressed:

      Gun Violence Reduction Executive Actions:

      1. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system.
      2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system.

      3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system.

      4. Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks.

      5. Propose rulemaking to give law enforcement the ability to run a full background check on an individual before returning a seized gun.

      6. Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.

      7. Launch a national safe and responsible gun ownership campaign.

      8. Review safety standards for gun locks and gun safes (Consumer Product Safety Commission).

      9. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal law enforcement to trace guns recovered in criminal investigations.

      10. Release a DOJ report analyzing information on lost and stolen guns and make itwidely available to law enforcement.

      11. Nominate an ATF director.

      12. Provide law enforcement, first responders, and school officials with proper training for active shooter situations.

      13. Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.

      14. Issue a Presidential Memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence.

      15. Direct the Attorney General to issue a report on the availability and most effectiveuse of new gun safety technologies and challenge the private sector to developinnovative technologies.

      16. Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.

      17. Release a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law enforcement authorities.

      18. Provide incentives for schools to hire school resource officers.

      19. Develop model emergency response plans for schools, houses of worship and institutions of higher education.

      20. Release a letter to state health officials clarifying the scope of mental health services that Medicaid plans must cover.

      21. Finalize regulations clarifying essential health benefits and parity requirements within ACA exchanges.

      22. Commit to finalizing mental health parity regulations.

      23. Launch a national dialogue led by Secretaries Sebelius and Duncan on mental health.

It does not appear that any of the executive orders would have any impact on the guns people currently own-or would like to purchase- and that all proposals regarding limiting the availability of assault weapons or large ammunition magazines will be proposed for Congressional action. As such, any potential effort to create a constitutional crisis—or the leveling of charges that the White House has overstepped its executive authority—would hold no validity. http://www.forbes.com/sites/rickungar/2013/01/16/here-are-the-23-executive-orders-on-gun-safety-signed-today-by-the-president/

From the standpoint of timing, maybe so.

OTOH, the pendulum swings both ways — from left to right & back the other way again.

When the left returns to power (bound to happen at some point), they are likely to look around for inspiration & support for their own intentions. . . .

This is your reasoned justification? :D

It’s not even very inventive, The Israeli left needs no support from America. Our left is more ideologically based than are Americans. You are overreaching based on your compulsive need to respond, even when you have no argumentative foundation for doing so.

      “This is your reasoned justification?”

Part of it, yes — and a part which more than sufficient unto itself.

But there’s also the fact that if this (or any) Administration succeeds in disarming the American populace, it will be impossible thenceforth for the people to retain control of their govt to any degree.

If you don’t see that as a problem for Israel, then you haven’t thought things through. . . .

      “It’s not even very inventive…”

Maybe not — but if not, then what of it? — Since when is it necessary for everything said here to be ‘inventive’?

      — The question is not whether something is ‘inventive’; but rather, whether it’s true.

“The Israeli left needs no support from America.”

They may or may not ‘need’ support, Yamit. They definitely would USE it, however.

The left (everywhere) has shown, time & again, that its opportunism is, quite literally, boundless.

“Our left is more ideologically based than are Americans.”

And your point would be. . . what, exactly?

“You are overreaching based on your compulsive need to respond…”

On any given day at the keyboard, Yamit, I pass up hundreds of posts on this site without responding in any way.

      — If I had a ‘compulsive need’ to respond, that would not be so.
