Swedish Pro-Israel Band

Laura: It’s rare to find such pro-Israel sentiment in Europe and this is especially true of the entertainment industry. Even if this is not your particular musical taste, this band should be supported.

Migron and the threat to Israeli democracy

BY CAROLINE GLICK

By Tuesday, 50 Israeli families will have been tossed out of their homes in their village of Migron, which is set for destruction.

They will not be dispossessed because they unlawfully squatted on someone else’s property.

The residents of Migron will be tossed from their homes – on the order of the Supreme Court – because Attorney-General Yehuda Weinstein and his associates believe they are above the law. And due to this opinion, Weinstein and his associates refuse to recognize the sovereign authority of Israel’s government or to act in accordance with its lawful decisions.

Russia is disengaging from Syria: Arms shipments stopped, warships exit Tartus

DEBKAfile Exclusive Report August 29, 2012, 4:44 PM

Russian naval vessels have unexpectedly departed the Syrian Mediterranean port of Tartus and Russian arms shipments to Syria have been suddenly discontinued. DEBKAfile’s military sources reveal that those and other steps indicate that the Russians are rapidly drawing away from the Syrian arena to avoid getting caught up in the escalating hostilities expected to arise from military intervention by the US, Europe and a number of Arab states. Russian intelligence appears to have decided that this outside intervention is imminent and Moscow looks anxious to keep its distance for now.

Palestinians: Rachel Corrie was a “Bitch”

Rachel Corrie and other female activists: “nasty foreign bitches” whom “our Palestinian young men are following around.”
by Bill Levinson

Jerry Gordon brought “Who Killed Rachel Corrie” by Lenny Ben-David to our attention. It shows that, among other things, young Palestinian men regarded Corrie and other female activists as “foreign bitches” who were there for their sexual gratification.

An anonymous letter was circulating which referred to Corrie and the other expatriate women in Rafah as “nasty foreign bitches” whom “our Palestinian young men are following around.”

How Many Millionaires Live in the “Impoverished” Gaza Strip?

by Khaled Abu Toameh, GATESTONE INSTITUTE

If the Egyptian army succeeds in demolishing the underground smuggling tunnels that keep Hamas running, it could mark the end of the Islamists’ rule over the Gaza Strip. But if Egypt’s new president, Mohamed Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood tie the hands of the Egyptian army’s generals and keep them from completing the mission, Hamas will become even stronger and wealthier.

The world often thinks of the Gaza Strip, home to 1.4 million Palestinians, as one of the poorest places on earth, where people live in misery and squalor.

Syria’s War Spills Into Lebanon

by Michael J. Totten, GATESTONE INSTITUTE

The Muslim Brotherhood hardly gets any more votes in Lebanon than it would in the in the United States. But conservative Sunnis are only willing to support Moderates like the Hariris when they feel safe. If they feel physically threatened by Alawite militias, Hezbollah, or anyone else for too long, many will feel they have little choice but to back radical Sunnis if no one else will protect them.

Syria’s civil war was doomed from the very beginning to spill into Lebanon. Trouble started last year shortly after peaceful demonstrations against Bashar al-Assad’s regime turned violent, and it started again last week when sectarian clashes ripped through the northern city of Tripoli, the second-largest in Lebanon after Beirut, and turned parts of it into a war zone.

Israel’s Chief Rabbi Blasts Geert Wilder in Shechita Letter

VERY DISTURBING

Can it be that Geert Wilder likes Israel but not Judaism or Jews? His party is trying to make their living in Holland impossible.

By Arutz Sheva Staff

The Ashkenazic Chief Rabbi of Israel, Yona Metzger, was shocked to discover that the Dutch Freedom Party, headed by pro-Zionist Geert Wilder, is getting on the “Ban Shechita” bandwagon. He wrote a clearly critical letter to Mr. Wilder, which Arutz Sheva has received and presents below:

To Mr. Geert Wilders, Leader of the Freedom Party

    Dear Mr. Wilders.

Both the Dutch rabbinate, as well as the leadership of the Dutch Jewish community, have extensively updated me on the status of the political debate on ritual slaughter in Holland.

State Department Backs the Jew-Hating Corries

Laura: Their daughter put herself in the pathway of a bulldozer in the cause of supporting  genocidal terrorists. Our islam-appeasing government is helping the Corries appeal the verdict of their meritless and politically motivated suit against the IDF.  This is the same State Department that opposed a suit against Iran filed by American victims of jihad terrorism. This adds to the State Department’s long historical record of hostility to Jews and Israel and favoritism towards Arab and islamic nations.

State Department Briefing:

QUESTION: Yeah. Now that an Israeli court has ruled
against –

MS. NULAND: Can you tell me who you are?

QUESTION: Sure. Josh Lederman with AP. (Read more…)

Jews: A religious group, people or race?

It’s pretty stunning, even though being Jewish was never really a question of genetics. In fact, even though the Talmud is not reliable for historical information, we know that conversion to Judaism by all levels of Roman society was rampant for 300 years or more. Still, the Cohen marker on the Y chromosome is amazing. The cohanim are the descendants on the male line from Aaron, Moshe’s brother. Also:

A high degree of mixing of Ashkenazi, Sephardi, Italian and Syrian Jews caused them to become more closely related to each other than they were to Middle Eastern, Iraqi and Iranian Jews. This genetic split seemed to have occurred about 2,500 years ago.

WJC ANALYSIS – Quds Day exposes Muslim discord

By Pinhas Inbari

Last week, Islamist parties across the Middle East marked Quds Day (Jerusalem Day), on the last day of Ramadan. Over the years, celebrations of the holiday did not attract much attention. This year, however, Salafists in Tunisia attacked marchers of the Quds Day parade and inflicted serious injuries on the participants. Similarly, Salafist activists in Jordanian refugee camps insisted on refocusing attention on the events in Syria instead of Jerusalem. Finally, Azam Tamimi, a London-based leading scholar affiliated with Hamas, questioned the entire value of the day.

Do Craig and Cindy Corrie Want Justice or Media Attention?

by Bill Levinson

“There’s not a lot of money in revenge.”
–Inigo Montoya in The Princess Bride

Inigo Montoya had to take odd jobs for questionable characters like Vizzini because there is indeed very little money in the revenge business, so Montoya owned little more than his sword and his honor. Had he been offered expenses-paid trips to exotic locales, appearances before the era’s media, and so on in exchange for allowing his father’s murderer to escape justice, he would have preferred his sword and his honor instead. This puts this fictional character head and shoulders above Craig and Cindy Corrie, who seem to prefer media attention over genuine justice for their daughter. The Poles would call the Corries haniebny: shameless and without honor. (Read more…)

Rachel Corrie: Unwilling “Comfort Woman” for Palestinians?

Long litany of Palestinian sexual assaults on other female activists suggests Corrie might have been raped.
by Bill Levinson

Did Rachel Corrie kneel in front of a bulldozer because she wanted to die after being sexually degraded by the people she came to help, and then told to keep quiet about it? This is impossible to prove one way or another but the experiences of other female activists show that it is quite likely that the Palestinians used Rachel Corrie for sexual gratification the same way they are known to have used other women. Note the phrase “routinely harassed and raped.”

Two activists have exposed a disturbing phenomenon that they say is an open secret within the “peace camp”: female “peace” activists are routinely harassed and raped by the Arabs of Judea and Samaria with whom they have come to identify. They say the phenomenon has gotten worse lately and that many foreign women end up as wives of local Arabs against their will, but cannot escape their new homes.

IDF Acquitted in Death of Rachel Corey

Laura: I feel as much empathy for the Corries as they and their daughter did towards the Israeli victims of jihad terrorism, which is nothing. They should be suing the ISM who used their daughter as a martyr for their nazi movement. Her ISM “friends” purposely stood by while the bulldozer accidentally ran over her. Their daughter died for the evil purpose of protecting genocidal terrorists and supporting the ethnic cleansing of Jews from their homeland

Weasel Zippers:
Israeli Court Acquits IDF In Rachel Corey Death

An Israeli judge has found no error in the military investigation that acquitted the Israeli Defense Force of the killing of a US activist by a bulldozer. The judge reiterated that the death was an accident.Nine years after US activist Rachel Corrie was crushed to death by an Israeli army bulldozer, her family has been handed a verdict in their civil lawsuit against Israel. Gov’t steps up campaign for Jewish Arab refugees

By JEREMY SHARON, JPOST

Deputy foreign minister says matter of Jewish refugees who fled Arab states after 1948 is a “core issue” in talks with Palestinians.

The Foreign Ministry – along with the World Jewish Congress and the Pensioners Affairs Ministry – is ramping up its campaign to bring the issue of Jewish refugee rights to public and diplomatic attention.

According to the Foreign Ministry more than 850,000 Jews from Arab states fled their countries of birth following persecution that ensued after the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948. Many also had their property confiscated.

Speaking with The Jerusalem Post on Monday, Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon and Deputy Pensioners Affairs Minister Lea Nass said the government was currently finalizing plans to institute a national day of recognition for Jewish refugees from Arab countries. It is also planning to build a museum to document the historical events of these communities, as well as their cultural heritage; collate testimony from thousands of refugees; and bring the issue front and center on the diplomatic stage.

A Disturbing Event: The American Conservative Union Embraces an Islamist

The conservative movement appears to be at a crossroads in its approach to the threat of Islamic supremacism—not only abroad but at home. Does the emergence of the Muslim Brotherhood as the dominant force of the “Arab Spring” bode ill for America? Or is the Brotherhood merely another “political actor” as the Obama administration would have us believe? Is Huma Abedin, Hillary Clinton’s Deputy Chief of Staff, a potential security risk worth investigating, as Representative Michele Bachmann and four conservative congressmen have suggested? Or is the mere raising of this question a witch-hunt, as Senator John McCain and Speaker John Boehner and numerous Democrats maintain? … Continue reading…

More than they can chew

Following an audacious offensive, the rebels are struggling to survive the regime’s counterattack

ANTAKYA AND IDLEB, The Economist

A MONTH after rebel forces launched a blazing attempt to capture Aleppo, Syria’s second city, they are starting to wilt. The regime claims to have routed them from their main stronghold in the Salaheddin district. Clashes continue in the southwest of the city and around the airport, but the best that rebel commanders can now hope to achieve is to draw the regime into a quagmire.
